PlastiDipped roof rack bars?

Post by NolanVoid »

Has anyone ever PlastiDipped their roof rack bars?

I want to paint them black, but don't want it to be permanent...

Just concerned about how it would hold up. Although, I never use the roof rack; no crossbars... would probably hold up fine.

Other than that, I was thinking about painting them a gunmetal grey...

Thoughts?

Plasti-Dip is super easy to apply, and people have indeed done up their roof rack rails in Plasti-Dip. You could pull off the roof rack end caps and risk breaking them and needing to repair them, or just mask them off and spray. It should last a decent amount of time. I've also seen people wrapping them in black vinyl.

Ooo! Vinyl wrapped. I like the sound of that.

Yeah, big fan of PlastiDip. My grille is PlastiDipped, and the silver bits in my interior. Just worried it'll wear out fast on the bars, especially if I just mask off the plastic caps...

The eyelids on my car are P-Dipped, and though they are faded it isn't too noticeable. I'm going to do more PDip over them, actually, just because it's so easy, and the shade of black is perfect for what I want.
