New Member: Suggestions for Cheap Mods?

Post by EricPala3 »

Hey guys, I have a 2003 Base in silver, all stock. I'm looking to mod it-but I'm on a tight budget! Do you guys have some good suggestions to make it look great at a low cost? Thanks

Welcome to GenVibe! I started with a base 04 in silver, and I've come a LONG way. Lowering springs cost around $100 used, but are a great way to make the Vibe look good. New is more, but still under $180. Then rims, and you can find mountains of them on Tirerack.com or on your local Craigslist. Headlight restoration kits will make your headlights look new if they are yellow at all. Plasti-Dip is great for accenting areas, like the rear bumper area or the grille. But if you do larger areas like the roof or hood, get a little sprayer attachment for the aerosol can. It will allow you to use better pressure for more even coats.

Other than that, look around at the garage forum, maybe even get ideas from the garage thread for my Vibe (link in sig - just click the picture).

If you Bookface we're there, too. And a bit more active.

Enjoy your stay!

Welcome to GenVibe Eric! I see your Vibe is the best color ! Check out Grafx Werks for some cheap mods for your Vibe. They sell overlays for the front and rear arrowhead badges and Vibe badges. You could also remove the Vibe badges completely for an even cleaner look. They're held on with double sided tape. Simply use some fishing line to "saw" back and forth behind the badge until it comes off completely, then use a hairdryer and WD-40 (or the like) to remove the leftover adhesive.

Another cheap and easy mod would be to change out some of the exterior bulbs. LED bulbs are great for the license plate light, reverse lights and interior lights and LEDs pretty much last forever. Check out v-LEDs. Their products are great qualtiy and really reasonably priced.

An intake would be another cheap and easy mod. I'm not too sure on what's available for the 1st gens (2003-2008) since I have a 2nd gen (2009-2010), but if you search around here you will find plenty of helpful info.

Best of luck and be sure to keep us updated with any mods, etc. you do to your Vibe ;)!
