New Viber

Post by orion134 »

Got an 04 GT with 56k on it for $8k out the door. Missing an armrest, stinks a little, and some scratches/dings that the wife doesn't like. Mechanically sound and pretty fun to drive. Looking forward to getting my bike racks on top and putting some commuting miles on it!

Welcome to GenVibe! Hopefully you can find an armrest. Maybe find a scratch kit, and deal with some of the nicks and such. Post pics, location, etc! We love pictures.

Welcome to GenVibe :D That's pretty low mileage for a 10 year old car. Are you sure the mileage is legitimate ??? Did you buy it from a private seller or a dealership? Looking forward to pics of this Vibe. Enjoy the ride!

Have you hit lift yet? You need to wrap the engine out to 6400 rpms.
I bought my 03 GT with 130Kmiles 6 months ago. When I tried it the first time while test driving the car popped a P1693 (code for Lift not working). The compression was good and bought the car anyway for $3800. The Lift Actuator, Housing and filter was all plugged with crap. Cleaned it all up flushed the engine, fresh oil, filter and it runs like a scalded dog.

Goodluck!

I did on the test drive and then the dealer filled it up. I don't trust that his guys put premium in it so I'm running this tank of gas down calmly.

Welcome to the Vibe forum. Should be able to find missing parts for your Vibe pretty easily. Lots of them made. GT was definitely the fun one in the family. You found a good low miles on the ODO Vibe... they do happen! My '08 is just beginning to close in on 20,000 miles.

You might find a lot of old debris in the intake cowling area ahead of the windshield. Organic matter can make the car smell a bit if it's left there to decompose. Clean that out and, like posted before, change out your cabin air filter. A good once over with good upholstery/carpet cleaner will finish the project. Make sure you let the interior dry out in the sun all doors open.

Another place that can get plenty funky sometimes, is out back under the rear cargo floor area. Take out the cargo tray, and the spare tire (good time to check the air pressure in it) and clean that area out.

Take the time to check the engine air filter and air intake run for debris, change all the oils everywhere when you get the chance. Synthetic oils will help get you a bit better mpg. Before you drive off in the morning, check the air pressure in the tires and take a look at the max inflation noted on your tires. Don't go above it. Fuel mileage is really impacted by tire pressure.

Put some pictures of your GT up for us to see!!

Welcome to GenVibe! That mileage is amazing! Only a little over 6000 miles more than our 2009 GTs! Sounds like you got a great Vibe that you'll be able to enjoy for a long time to come! Definitely post some pictures of it when you get a chance ;)!

I'd take some pics now but I'm in the process of trying to find a 30mm socket to replace a cv axle...
