I need some help with an exterior trim problem

Hello all. Today I was at the store and when I came out a piece of trim on my driver side rear door was disconnected. I dont know how it could have happened, but right now I just want to get it fixed. Can anyone tell me if this is easy to fix? Im including a small picture of a vibe, not mine, door. The piece that Im talking about is on the far right of the door in the bottom right quadrant. Its curved in shape. Its still connected, but the two clips closest to the top of the little piece of trim are no longer connected.

I would really appreciate any tips on how to get the clips/plugs back into place to secure the trim.

I cant tell which piece you're talking about in the picture. but its likely some white circular plastic clips like alot of the other plastic door panels

Sorry, I tried to describe the part as best I can. But heres the same picture with the part circled that is loose on my car.

There are white pegs/clips that connect to the panel. Should I just take a rubber mallet and try to pop them in. Ive tried doing it with my hand with no luck. Any suggestions?

If it's anything like the trim pieces on the bottom of the front door they're tough. Trim removal tools are a great help to remove the white circular plugs and then fix them into what should be rectangular slots on the trim piece and then push the trim back on with all the white plugs/clips attached to it and then fix it to the car by pushing the plugs into the holes. If necessary double sided trim tape for body moulding. Good luck!

If the pins are broken, they may not hold the piece to the door. You can get replacement pins at the Toyota dealer (probably cheaper than GM) and also sometimes at Autozone or other parts place in their "Help" parts section,

Thanks guys. I will try both suggestions tomorrow. I dont believe the pins are broken, I just can get them to snap into the wholes on the trim.

I think the moulding clips slide into the moulding and snap into the body. I'll be looking at this same job in a few weeks and let you know what I find..

If they're still in the door instead of the trim, you should gently remove the clips from the door with a panel/clip popper tool (example: http://www.northerntool.com/images/prod ... 477_lg.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and then slip them into the slots for the clips in the trim piece. Make sure they're nice and warm with a hairdryer so that they don't break when you try to pull them.

If they are still in the trim piece, line them up with the holes in the door and smack them with a balled fist.
