Manual Windows Dropping

Post by Charlievibe »

On Wednesday, I took my car to Pontiac to have a ton of stuff taken care of. One of the items was having my windows looked at. Here's the problem, all four of the windows on the car drop ~1/4-inch when the door is slammed. However, this only occurs if the windows are cracked. The dealer took a look at it and told me that this was normal and they couldn't find anythig about it in the TSB's.Has anyone else had this happen? And, before I am asked, I do not have power windows.I have never had this problem on another Pontiac, so I am wondering what is going on. It doesn't cause a problem, I am just curious. If there has already been discussion on this topic, please point me that direction, I couldn't find it when I searched.Thanks.

Mine used to do this until I switched the handles around when I put my speakers in. Now they sit at 6 o'clock when fully closed instead of 12 o'clock... Good Luck

Interesting...never heard of this, and certainly wouldn't think of it as normal...perhaps go to another dealer for a second opinon?

I noticed this on my car, but usually have the windows either open or shut all the way, so hasn't been a problem. When I noticed it I tried to shake the window to see if it could be opened up, thought it would be a big security problem if you could open the windows but jiggling them up and down, but they stayed closed. Would have come in handy though the time I locked the keys in the car.

disneydj....I had not thought about the location of the handle when I was leaving my windows cracked. I just went out and rolled my window down far enough that the handle was at 6 o'clock, then slammed the door, and the window didn't move.Like joatmon, the reason I was concerned about this was due to security issues. Where I work, my car is 100% safe, but I park my car in a parking garage two nights a week and was very concerned. Thanks to everyone for the responses!!!
