thinking of a trade in....

Post by ShotInTheDark »

Before everyone gets up in arms, no I'm not tradeing my vibe. I'm considering tradeing in my 2003 chevy Silverado 4 door 1500 truck for a Lancer Evo. Any suggestions? The truck is virtually brand new and has less then 10,000 miles on it. It just doesn't suit my needs any longer. NOw the Evo on the other hand the way I figure after trade in and some cash will be about the same payments a month. Just sitting here thinking and wanted some other opinions.

I have to agree with silver. wrx sti is the way to go! known for mechanically sound and quality. the handling is much better and smoother all around, plus IMHO, it's much better looking. Subies are by far better quality. unfortunately, my understanding, is that there's a wait for them. i spoke to the dealership in Fairbanks and they can get one in 1 month, plus it's a bit cheaper with no tax!I'd sell the truck, because you'll get more for it than a trade, and then buy your evo/sti.

I'm leaning toward the wrx, I'm gonna check the subbie dealer near me this week. As for the rx-8 I drove one saturday and it is nice. However it's not what I expected. The back seats a re a joke as well. Tough to haul a child around in.

My vibe gives me enough space to haul four people comfortably, my mountain bike (seperate of course), and gets twice the MPG that my truck got. I will see how it handles in the winter to make my final judgement.

Either the Evo or the STi. They are both awesome cars, but all the reviews say the Evo is just a tad better than the STi. If I didn't already have a Vibe, I would be looking at an Evo myself.

Yeah, I have to agree with Triton. Everything I've read has pointed towards the evo for being the better buy. It does handle better than the sti, plus its cheaper. The sti is a bit faster though, but with those speeds, you're probably not going to notice much of a difference. Also, I have seen an evo run at the autocrosses around here and it gets some pretty damn good numbers for being stock.

Plus, the Evo is more rare on the roads...WRX is everywhere...only seen 1 evo since it's release...

the subbie dealer told me today that it would be a 3-6 month wait for the wrx sti. Provided I put a substantial deposit down. seems like the evo is looking a little better to me...

you should try the dealership in Fairbanks. they said they can get one in a month. no tax either. see lots of WRX, but not many STI's. they are different. see plenty of lancers, but only a few EVO's. Still, i like the Sti much better than the Evo. Unless you don't plan on keeping it for a real long time, then i guess it wouldn't matter. if you do plan on keeping the evo longer than the factory warranty, then... definitely get the extended warranty. as for insurance purposes, you'll pay more for the evo than the sti. but, either way, both would be fun cars!

i just looked up the evo and it's also awd. i did not know that. wow, that makes the decision even tougher! i saw a used evo in fairbanks list past summer. you could ask red if it's still there and how much they want for it?
