Headlight Armor

Post by vibenvy »

I just thought I would share my positive experience with Headlight Armor with my fellow GenVibers...

I initially checked them out a couple weeks ago when Cole (NascarXprt) posted a link to their 2009-2010 Vibe GT fog light overlays in his Garage thread. After checking out their site, I decided to order a pair of their "GT yellow" fog light overlays for my Vibe. I received and installed them last weekend and was very impressed with the fit and quality of the overlays. The overlays came with a squeegee and an absolutely amazing installation guide which made application a breeze. There was also a coupon code on the invoice to save 10% on my next order (which I just used to order a pair of the same overlays for my mom's Vibe :D)! I emailed them a couple installation pictures of my Vibe that they will hopefully add to the site so prospective buyers can actually see how they look installed. I am 100% satisfied with Headlight Armor and will most definitely do business with them again when the need arises (although, with the quality of their overlays, I don't forsee needing new ones anytime soon :P). I highly recommend them!

I still need to get the time to go back under there and install the new fog bulbs I bought more than a year ago. I couldn't get the old ones out and was afraid to break something.

The overlays look nice!

That snow will fool you every time  Park it in a darker environment and the silver stands out ... but in the snow, looks can be deceiving, as they say.

A silver car after enough time in the winter environment will start to look white from the road salt. Or brown from the crap that semi trucks toss up.

My Vibe actually is pretty white right now due to being covered in so much salt :(. I am dying to be able to give it a nice handwash in the driveway... is it spring yet !?!

I received a response from Headlight Armor earlier this week thanking me for my installation pictures and kind words about their product. Pictures are now up on the website :D!

The overlays for my mom's Vibe are supposed to arrive tomorrow, so I will post some pictures of her Vibe some time this weekend atfer I get them installed. I can't wait to see how they look against the Steel Blue Metallic paint!

Here's a follow up question. How often do you use your fog lights? I always forget to turn them on.

Sounds like a great product. Saw your car on their web site. Should order a set.

About those fog lights, I only use them in fog or low visibility situations. Notice lots of cars and trucks with them on all the time in. Maybe their windows are not clean and it "looks" foggy out there to them? My wife figures they probably don't even know they're on, or how to turn them off!

I use my fogs as driving lights along with the low's. It lights up the edge of the road MUCH better. The GT's have the oversized fogs, so I don't know how it is for other Vibes.

We always use our fog lights along with the low beams (and high beams since we have "independent fog lights") at night. As Ethan (09vGT) said, they do help to light up the sides of the road more than just the low beams, plus they look awesome against the white HID headlights ! We will also use them sometimes during the day along with the parking lights if it's cloudy or rainy or at dusk or dawn when it's too light for low beams, but too dark for just parking lights.

On all the time :D I like the fact that the Vibe has a mechanical fog light switch, meaning that whenever night driving conditions exist the fogs will come on by themselves along with the normal headlights EVERY TIME as long as the switch is set for them. Now in my new Silverado, it is a "latching type" switch meaning that every time the truck shuts off, the fogs go off and MUST be turned back on the next time the truck is started :( Otherwise you're driving without them.

My projectors have rendered my fog lights useless. But in areas where high beams are overkill I use them as driving lights. I should do a projector upgrade on the fogs for a better, more spread out beam. Or maybe use them as a better high beam. Especially since I made my own lexan fog lamp covers!

Ahh new vehicles... What was wrong with the mechanical switch? Why introduce complexity when there isn't a need? I'm sure if you look online or at schematics you'll find a way to hook them to your high beams. Even if it comes to adding a relay using headlamp power as the switch.

Well, I ended up removing the overlays from the fog lights of both Vibes this weekend. I had grown tired of looking at the yellow fog lights and one overlay on each Vibe had a small spot where it had popped up and wouldn't stick back down because it had gotten dirt underneath it, so I decided to just pull them off.

The decision to remove the overlays in no way has to do with the product itself or Headlight Armor. It was simply a matter of taste.

I remember seeing that thread. The wheel covers look great, but aren't really our style. Plus since we only use them in the winter, I'm not to worried about changing the look of them. I actually prefer a plain metallic silver wheel / wheel cover. I'm even considering getting our 18s powder coated metallic silver next spring when we get new tires.
