Vibe Recall

Only owned my 03 Vibe three months and the previous owner passed along a recall letter she just received.

The recall is for the passenger side airbag. Is this a new recall or has it been out for a while? Anyone had this looked into?

It came out earlier this year. I had the recall done on mine back in June. All they do is install some electrical noise filter (IIRC), took maybe an hour.

i just had mine done a few weeks ago, took bout half day for me, but I have an 03 GT and they only had the wire harness and had to run to another dealer for more parts.

There have been four recalls on 03 Vibes
The first was in the early production run (spring of 2002) AWD only Vibes, rear axle alignment bolts needed tightening.
The second was for power windows, some screws could work loose, allowing the window to catch on the way up, and potentially energetically shatter.
The third was for the passenger airbag, some electrical interference could cause the airbag to spontaneously deploy, installing a noise filter is the fix.
The fourth is that the explosives in the passenger airbag might not fully combust, and some of these might be thrown as shrapnel when the airbag deploys. The fix for this is to replace the airbag.

The best thing for you to do is to call a GM dealer, have them look up your VIN to identify which recalls still need to be done on your car.
