Recall 13112 for 2003 Pontiac Vibe

Hello guys. I received a letter in the mail today about the recall 13112. This recall is about:

"The passenger airbag inflator which could have been assembled with improperly manufactured propellant wafers. Improperly manufactured propellant wafers could cause the inflator to rupture and the front passenger airbag to deploy abnormally in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant.” (GM letter)

However, the parts are not available yet. I will receive another notice to inform me when I could take the Vibe in for repairs.

As of 08/08/2013 there has been no letter from GM.

I got that letter too and then my airbag light came on so I figured I should probably get this fixed so I don't die. Took it to the GM dealer and they said its usually just a wire harness repair but on mine they had to replace the airbag module. Ordered the part and they are installing it today. I would just call them up and say you would like to have the recall issue fixed.

On a somewhat tangentially related note--does anyone know if there's any way to check online IN CANADA to see if a used Vibe has had recall work done? Or do I need to bring it to a GM Canada dealer and have them look up the VIN?

In the first letter that they sent me, they told me about the recall. They are asking me to wait for the second letter notice which will let me know when the recall part is available in the dealer to fix the recall. As of today (08-18-2013) I have not received the letter with dealer part ability.

I don't know about checking online, but you don't need to bring it to a dealer, you can just call the dealer and give them your VIN over the phone.

No second letter for the recall here either

Just recieved the 2nd letter telling me the parts are ready. Called the dealer and told it needs to be inspected first to see if it needs the replacement if so they will order it at that time and call me when it gets in. Told only about 10% of the Vibes need it replaced but appears my 03 Silver GT is always that 10%.
If you haven't received the letter just call the dealer and tell then you are checking to see if recall 13112 affects your Vibe. This is the passangers bag. Just had the SRS CIRCUIT done back in Aug under a diferent recall. Inspection is free.
