My wife hit a curb

So, We had to switch cars and she had my Vibe....and she smoked a curb. The list of parts is as follows:

Control arm
Steering knuckle
Rim
2 tires

The car also required an alignment.

Total bill was almost 1500. Had to go through insurance. 500 deductible and my rates now go up.

Moral of the story...don't let your wife drive your car.

Yep, I agree.

Bought a "new-to-me" dually. On the way from the dealer stopped to get some groceries. Then she wanted to drive it to the gas station.

Rounding the pump island she drove into the ballard with the rear fender. Cracked for life that fender is.

today: third ruined (new) tire in the last 3 years. Today's story: I ran over some broken concrete that was in the road.
Me: "did you think to call the police so you could file a report against the contractor who left junk in the road, causing the blowout??"
Wife: ...................chirping cricket sounds..............

thank goodness these are only "reasonably priced" Hankook tires, but geez................it is costing me $90 delivered, a pop to swap out perfectly good tires.

I think it is time for a new model.
I'll let you think about that one for a while.

Wife got hit on the freeway by a car that failed to remain 3 weeks ago in the vibe.
Know your pain. Going through insurance too... Thankfully she's ok and the vehicle is drivable!
Estimate is 1124.50 and 4 days to fix.....

How do you do that much damage? I used to hit curbs all the time when I was learning to drive, and all my suspension is still pristine. Sometimes I still bump curbs when going around weird corners, but my rims and tires haven't been damaged yet. Honestly, I'm really confused as to how people manage to damage cars so badly hitting things while backing up at a slow speed.

Couldn't agree with all of you more! Wife was involved in TWO serious (almost totaled) accidents in the past ten years. To her defense though, they were NOT her fault. Either way we lost substantially in both cases and no longer own either of the cars.

You want to know why? Because she hit it doing most likely 50-60Km/hr. I bet most people lie about how fast they hit curbs. I've hit curbs too and never have done that much damage to a car. On the plus side, it rides awesome now.

Oh I forgot to mention...it needed brakes....another 350 smackeroonies.

Thankfully I was able to negotiate another $10 off deal plus free shipping on Hankook H727s. This makes the third new tire purchase in 3 months. This comes after having purchased 4 new H727s just a little over 2 years ago. So now I'm up to 3 new tires and one 2 year old tire on the car. Thank goodness I've been able to hock these things for only $69 a pop.... plus balancing and installation ($20 each tire). The noose is getting tighter.
