I still waiting too and if they don't get it done soon... I think I'm gonna cry. I can only put on so many coats of Mother's Back-to-Black before it no longer helps.

Get it replaced now

Post by TimLambo »

I would just get the cladding replaced and do the splashguard install. That is what I did and now I'm glad I didn't wait for the TSB. Once your warranty is up it'll be much harder. For those of you having problems-call the toll free number in your warranty book. Talk to Pontiac! Tell them how happy you are and how you're telling all your friends what a great vehicle the Vibe is EXCEPT for the cladding problem. Be nice but firm. This is obviously a problem area-thus the change in the 2004 models and the plastic clear protectors on the 2003 monochrome. I got my cladding replaced-installed front guards (5 minute job-easier than the rears) and I'm a happy man! Now if someone would just buy my extra set of wheels..

Stopped in to the dealer today, I showed them the TSB and they checked on dealerworld.com and found that they have the TSB to include a new part# for the wheelhouse moldings but still seems to be the 2003 part # for the lower body molding. they agreed to replace them. so they ordered new parts. I also checked on mud guards and they have them in stock $25 a pair so I will get them. now to approach them about the crummy paint.....

My guess is that it is the original TSB he refers to...

correct, the original TSB from 2003 is what i showed them. the warranty person said "it says to replace them so thats what we will do" only on their computer the part # were different for the right and left rear wheelhouse moldings only. (that may be because of a different vendor for the part or a change in the part spec. based on what I've seen at work). does that help clarify it?

But without the 04 rocker extensions, you'll be back there in another year with the same problem...why not just wait the extra month or two and get it done once, done right?

Fair enough. I'll ask Jeff if my minor damage still qualifies me for the TSB replacement...if it does, I'll weigh the pros/cons of the 03/04 panels and make a decision...

its been a month + since the new tsb was suppose to be out...its getting into fall here and winter isnt that far behind...just want to get this mess cleared up before the 12/12000 is up...i dont want to give anyone at pontiac any excuses for this shoddy plastic they used for cladding and get denied replacement pieces..btw, ive had mudflaps on since 2 weeks after she was bought and that DID NOT stop the damage to the moldings...now my front is looking beat up also!! i think i'm getting a little frustrated with this whole thing!

They need time to manufacture the parts. It would (removed) you off also if they released the TSB, then you had to wait months for parts, no? Better they delay the TSB but have the parts readily available when it does come out...They'r enot just sitting on it...the parts are being made so they are there for us as we go in and get it resolved...we will followup with Jeff at the Ohio meet as to a more definitive date...

I think not. it would be nice but.....sorry just the opinion of a GM worker
