I removed the radio looking for something and left it out for awhile. I replaced the radio but now it stays on when I turn the car off, also the security light doesn't turn on and blink. Does this have to be reset? Whatever happened my battery is rained overnight. Any suggestions?
You say its a 2004, but your other posts are about a 2009
Is it 2004 radio in a 2009 vibe?
Do you have both a 2004 and 2009 Vibes?
Did you mean 2009 in the thread title?
The 2003-2008 radio's get power from 2 sources. The first is constant, and seem to only be used to blink the light and let the clock keep time. The second is switched ACC power, used to run the radio. When there is ACC power, the blinking light will stay off. It sounds like your radio is getting constant ACC power. Can't think of any way just removing and reinstalling the radio would cause that to happen, unless it coincided with some wiring mod, or there is a flaw in the way the 2004 radio was wired into a 2009.
I have 2 vibes, a 2004 and a 2009. The 2004 has the radio problem, it also seems to be draining the battery. It was sitting awhile waiting for parts. Don't understand this electrical problem at all.

Cool!
Maybe the radio is a symptom and not the root problem. Does anything else that would normally require the key to be turned still work when the key is off, such as the 110V inverter or the power outlet in the console between the seats?
Don't lose your password! I checked again after removing the radio and CAREFULLY reinstalling. Very strange stuff going on. My radio worked more or less normally that morning (turn off car and security light on clock off) but the next day after doing some more work back to misbehaving, clock/radio stays on and security light off. I'm guessing ignition switch but that's really a guess. Anyone else have this type of problem?
