floppy mirror lid on driver sun visor?

Post by canadave »

Just realized that the mirror is drooping on the driver sun visor on our 04 Vibe. Anyone else fixed this, or am I looking at replacing the whole visor? If so, anyone got a good parts source for that type of thing?

Explain again what is going on. Is the cover broken, or is the mirror itself sliding around in the visor? If it's un-fixable any and all salvage Vibes are pretty much guaranteed to have their visors. You could try car-part.com. Great resource for finding parts. If "visor" isn't there, search for rear-view mirror, or driver seat. Just some indication that there's a Vibe in the lot you could pull a part from. All you'd need is a screwdriver as the visor is held in place by two screws.

Even though I've never seen the movie all the way through, and am only 18, this is what comes to mind when I get no responses from people, too. ;)

The visor itself is fine, but the embedded mirror is "floppy"; it's not snugging back into its holder, instead it's drooping loosely down and swinging on its hinge.

hehe yes, it's a classic movie line, isn't it. Speaking as someone in my early 40's, it's nice to see that the younger generation is paying attention to movies that came before 2010! :)

Here's another question. Are there any visors from other cars that would fit a 2004 Vibe? Like, would a Matrix visor fit?

Matrix visors would fit just fine. Probably Corolla visors, too. You could try to get some glue or 3m trim tape up where the mirror should be, and try to jimmy it back into place. 3M red tape is great, it's what has held the eyelids to my headlamps for a few years now.

Some of us are, at least. I don't like too many of the new ones. My favorites actually are older than I am! I'm certainly an outlier in most of my tastes. That's okay, I like being different.
