2007 AC issue

Post by Lawsonland »

Hi,
I have a 2007 vibe that doens't blow cold air.
I have been going through the posts and it seems that the clutch is usually the culprit
So I went out and started the car up and the AC clutch does engage when I push the AC button (green light comes on) but still do not get cold air. The clutch disengages when I push the AC button off.

If the clutch is not bad what else should I look at?

One thing I did notice, I don't think happened before, is when I turned the AC on I would hear a "hiss" sound

I am going to check to see if it still does it.

Thanks
Jon

When the AC is running, do any of the refrigerant lines get cold? If they do, then it is possible the air diverter in the ducting is not changing from the heater core to the AC evaporator. I'm assuming the temp control is on cold? If the lines are not cold, then it is possibly low on refrigerant, but it still has just enough left so the compressor is still turning on.

Hi,
I did not checked to see if the lines are cold, I will check.

How do I check the diverter? I know the recirculator works, when I push the button I can hear it close.

Thanks

Hi,
I purchased a rechagre kit, check the pressure and it was low, not low enough to shut it off but not enough to cool.
I charged it it mid range and now I have very cold air.
Must have been a small leak
Thanks

Good deal! Hopefully it will not leak out soon. But if it does, you can recharge it again.

Saw this a bit late but yeah I would have said check for leaks. You can get a can of dye and run it through the system and see where the leak is coming from.

Hi,

happy that I found this forum. My wife drives a 2004 vibe (first owner).

The engine is great and the car is really good on gas.

Last year the ac wasnt blowing really cold air like it did before. I had somebody from Autozone recharge the system.

It made it a little better but still not great. Since a few weeks the system isnt blowing any cold air. I checked the system and its overcharged. I got it to the point where the pressure was good. Started the car and 5 min later the pressure was high again. I drive the car around withut switching on the ac but I have a feeling there is valve somewhere that doesnt work right.

Besides that I had a shop redo the brakes. New pads and resurfaced the rotors. I had to do this because the car would shake during braking. After around 5 months it came back. We took it to a different store and they said the brakes look fine. The tire pressure is oke to. Any idea?

I like this car a lot. It drives oke, doesnt use a lot of gas and looks good to.

I do have one of those tech books, I just never looked into it. I dont have the space and tools to do things myself yet.

Looking forward for tips

Aquell
