My reason was that i had a 3k discount on GM products, i was gonna use it to buy the cavalier that i wanted. But the realized the car was crap.I was them lookin into getting a Grand Am, but i sat in one at a car show and the interior was crap.So0o i went and i sat in a vibe( i didnt really like the car). What got the me was the interior, the confortable seating and all that.so i chose it as my GM product.

I chose the Vibe because:* 4.9% APR through GMAC (Couldn't get less through Toyota)* $500 rebate (Toyota = $0)* Ability to pay less than MSRP (Toyota = no deals on Matrix)* GM's Graduate Discount was easier to qualify for than Toyota.* After 6 Months of comparing looks, the Vibe appealed to me more.* Very efficient dealer/salesman (Toyota = didn't seem like they wanted to deal.. period.)I still like the Matrix, and would own both a Vibe and Matrix if I could () but all these factors pointed me towards the Vibe.

I choose the Vibe GT because1)$1500 Rebate and lower interest rate made Vibe w/more standard equipment competitive2) Local dealer was more helpful than local Toyota volume dealer3) IMHO the Vibe just looks sharper, Matrix is, well, dullAs always, just my $.02

GM opened a window to dump my '99 Jimmy lease at no cost to me. I wanted the Matrix XRS and the Vibe GT. It would have cost me $3000 at the end of the Jimmy lease. I like my Vibe GT but I still like the Matrix as well.

I chose the Vibe for the following reasons:1. Liked the styling much better.2. Toyota sales people where arrogant. Pontiac salesman was courteous and responsive and they were both part of the same large dealership.3. Got a better price.Base Vibe (Salsa) Moon and Tunes, Power

Looks of the Vehicle and I have all ways liked Pontiac mainly because of the 85 TA and 87 Formula I have owned. Guess I'm kinda loyal, even though they killed both of those great vehicles for 2003.

$3500 gm credit. As another poster said, we tested everything from cav's, sunflowers to trackers and all were crap. Then we spied the Vibe. I'm not the biggest fan of the styling (kinda like the Matrix better) but the layout is awesome and with toyota quality... can't ask for much more! I really, really enjoy this car!

2 reasons: it looks better than the Matrix and GM loyalty.Yeah, my Chrysler Voyager makes me sort of a hypocrite but it's my wifes car and she like it better than any GM minivan. Unfortunately, I agree with her. Chrysler makes nice minivans.

In Canada there is no ABS available on the Matrix XR. I wanted the 1zz engine so the Vibe won over. My wife likes the SUV like looks and frankly the Vibe deserves the look because it is a very Sporty Utility Vehicle.

Why not the Matrix? I'm a GM girl at heart. The fact that it has a Toyota engine is just a bonus. I'm not all that fond of the Matrix styling either. Although i wasn't fond of the Vibe's looks at first either, but I really, really wanted a GM, and didn't like anything else they had at the time. I mean, once you've driven a Cavalier, you've driven a Sunfire. Grand Am, while I love it, was too big for my taste... Alero same (same car really). The more I saw the Vibe, the more I began to love it. Wanted to see it so much, in fact, I went to the Toronto Auto Show just for it.

I chose the Vibe GT over Matrix XRS for pretty much the same reasons found elsewhere:1. deep discount via GM Visa card2. 3.9 % APR 3. GM loyalty - owned a 97 Cav Z24 before (it wasn't crap! ;-) )4. liked the looks of the Vibe over the duller Matrix - looks like a pumped up Corolla5. Several dealerships in town (and province) allowed for dealer competion, and therefore much better deals. Toyota dealer didn't seem to care really...

Toyota did not have the DVD Nav system available a couple months ago. And I wanted to buy local (made in Fremont, CA - all Matrixes made in Ontario). And I think the Vibe looks better. And Toyota only makes a few option packages - no custom cars, so no chance for me to get just the options I want without paying for things I don't need.

1. GM Supplier Discount 2. GM Visa points 3. I'm a sales rep selling to Ford, GM, DaimlerChrysler. A Toyota would not last long on their employee parking lot.

For me it was 1. already a GMAC customer and I find that the Vibe's styling has more balance than the Matrix. Don't get me wrong I like the Matrix but it took a while. The styling of the Vibe I find makes it seem less tall.just my 2 cents

I don't have the Vibe just yet however I first noticed the Matrix a few months ago and experianced a Matrix sighting in NC. I fell in love with it but then I saw the Vibe and immediately loved it. I love the Two-Tone look and the Mtarix doesn't have that. The roof-Rack gives it a good apperance as well... That was enough for me to chose the vibe over the Matrix. I havn't got down the the particulars with financing and all but at the end of it I am sure it will be worth it

I had a full size gm truck for a trade in. Vibe I got was optioned out exactly like a matrix xr & was the same price. I had $1500 in GM visa earnings. There was a unit that was actually available on the dealers lot!!!!!!!!!!

My $0.02

Post by Celos »

I'm surprised by how many folks have either GM supplier or employee pricing. That's a big reason that I'm buying the Vibe, too; GM employee pricing through the family. My wife and I each already drive GMs because of the discount ('91 Sunbird [Vibe will replace] and a '96 Blazer), but I hadn't really thought to use the discount again until we bought another big vehicle because the GM "commute car" offerings are either small and ugly (read: boring), or too big and don't have good enough gas mileage. I figured I'd end up with a Civic, Impreza, or Protege5 as my commuter, but the Vibe really caught my attention. I had actually seen it in mid-2000 as a grand marshall car in the Portland Rose Parade (it was a styling orange two-tone), so I knew about it already. When we started to look at it, it was really a great, versatile car. I've also got two kids so I needed a four-door with some usability, and it fit the bill perfectly. (Especially when you factor in employee pricing, the $1500 incentive, and the GM mastercard. Beat *that*, Toyota!)I go back and forth between Matrix and Vibe styling. Color choice seems to make a big difference in terms of whether I like the Matrix in particular or not --- some Matrix colors really work and others don't. Overall I prefer the Pontiac "aggro-style," and will soon be driving a Neptune two-tone base. Hey LocDog, how hard was it to de-badge the car? What about paint touch-up?[Modified by Celos, 9:31 PM 10/2/2002]

I guess I'm like everyone else out there. Ever since the Celica came out I wanted one bad, but the cost was very high. Then these cars came along and offere a Celica with a lot of room. Then I got the GM A plan, owner loyalty, purchased my Sonoma lease, and it is the only GM vehicle that I will own short of a Vette. I really like the Matrix's looks, but I also like the look of the extra bolt-ons I can buy with the extra cash Actually, if you think about it, with the discounts this vehicle is in the same price category of a Civic, Lancer, and other boring cars, but has the performance like the Celicas and RSXs.

Price. I got a better deal on the car and my trade-in....plus I used my GM Points as my trade in - which means to date, I have invested $0. My first loan payment doesn't come out until October 19th.

I wouldn't say the Matrix is ugly....the Matrix allows you to make modifications as if it were a Civic. A Vibe is good the way it is. Change the wheels (but not necessary if you got the 16-17" rims), tail lights are good (will ruin the look with clear lenses). The way my Vibe looks, it allows for the more rugged look and/or "Get out of the b*tch before I move your ***!!!" Therefore, if you want to customize your ride, the Matrix may be your better choice....for minor stuff and/or leaving your ride stock, the Vibe is the way to go.
