air bag safety

Post by gasgasmike »

Hi ; I am planning to install cruise control on my 2009 vibe.I have all of the parts ready to go .This is my first car with air bags. How do I be safe working around them? Is unhooking the batteryall I need to do? Any tips? Can not find much on the net .Are there any GM safety documents out there? thank you

I am sure that there are lots of detailed procedures on how to completely inert the air bag system, but I don't know what they are. The TOyota manual I have says to disconnect the negative battery terminal, and then wait at least 90 seconds before doing anything. I've also read to never put an airbag face down. I guess if it goes off, you want the airbag to deploy, not explosively propel the airbag assembly. Also, try not to beat on air bags or air bag sensors Quote, originally posted by gasgasmike »This is my first car with air bags.I've had more cars without air bags than cars with air bags, but it seems like air bags have been standard in cars for a while. What did you have before the Vibe?

Did you ever get your CC installed? I have an 09 and am finding zero information on adding cruise. The rostra kit is 150 but I'd like to know if I can just add the factory switch as in the earlier models. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
