Vibe headlight covers

Post by MechTech »

Hello all, Does anyone know if there are headlight covers available for the Vibe yet? I went to the GTS site and they didn't have a listing for the Vibe.

Still new at this game. Came across a site, http://www.autoseattle.com/stongard.htm that has a product called "StonGard Light". It's a 1/16" transparent lense that fits over your lights. Therefore doesn't stick out like conventional covers. I called to order. Spoke with "Steve". He checked with the manufacture and they haven't made the pattern yet for the Vibe. Said he'd keep after them. Don't know what the price will be yet, but I gave him a verbal order. Check out the site, as it has some pics. If this looks good to you, as it did to me, give him a call at the toll free number. If enough people are interested, perhaps they'll get off the dime and make the pattern. 1-877-909-7599. I hesitate to put the car on the road without these neccessary accessories. Also, go right to the source at http://www.stongard.com Currently have on order, engine block heater, front cover, and splash guards. The water resisdent seat covers are next. Bit steep in price, but then nothing is too good for the Vibe ! My e-mail is ssalone@wmonline.com if you want to drop a line.

I would also be interested in headlight covers. A friend has a VW Jetta with clear covers (from VW I think). They have a warranty for life from damage. It would be nice to have this for the Vibe. All I can find are smoked covers. Isn't there anything else available?

Cool ! Wished now I hadn't ordered the bra from the dealer. Still might go for the hood protector. Looks like xpel makes quite a product. Thanks for the heads up !

Folks: Is the Vibe Headlight lens Plastic or Glass? It seems like plastic to me. Is it suseptible to breakage? Does anyone want to take a hammer to their lens to find out? Me neither

I'm sure it is highly resistent to breakage, but you can't rule it out from ever happening (depending on the circumstances).Pretty much all newer GM vehicles have the plastic headlamp housings.

Check out http://www.xpel.com site. When you go looking for the headlight covers, they give cost of headlight replacement, etc. Probably a good incentive to buy protection versus replacement, hassle, etc. The first advice I got when I moved to rural Arizona was make sure you get "all glass" protection on your insurance. On a 79 Honda Accord, driving on asphalt, 57 miles round trip to work, I was replacing a headlight every other month. And that car had 4 of them. The next Honda had the sealed variety headlight. I had to replace two of them at over $100 a pop. Not to mention numerous turn signal lenses. This Vibe is brand new. Sitting in the garage till I get some protection. Kind of like a condom. Not 100 %, but as good as it gets. I love this car. I just sat out there in it and listened to the Beatles "1" album. And all I've done is take a test drive in another Vibe, have this one brought in, drive it 6 miles to my house, and there you go !
