wtb: orange awd(maybe) 1.8

Post by mrsocks »

Hi All,

So I've been looking around and hoping I can get some help finding one....
Looking for an auto vibe in Orange, maybe with AWD. (this is revised after I have been reading more on here about the differences....AWD is not a deal breaker. )

If you know anyone, please let me know.

Thanks!

Have you driven an awd 1st Gen? They're slow and not great on gas...

IMO, get a fwd and snow tires...(if winter is why you want awd)

Not great on gas? How bad compared to the fwd?...this is the first I've heard this.

I've driven the AWD, but never a FWD only. So I know they are not fast, but I want something that is good in wet, snow and dirt.
I see your from Ontario, so I assume you are driving your FWD with snow tires and it handels well?

Thanks.

FWD with snow tiers does good in the snow. My lowered FWD led a pack of cars down the unplowed interstate in probably a foot of snow with snow tires. And it can get 30mpg easily, even exceeding that in some circumstances. AWD Vibes struggle to get 30mpg.

EPA rates an automatic FWD as: 25/27/31 city/combined/highway
And AWD as: 22/25/29 city/combined/hwy

I second the gas mileage info - I was recently talking with an '06 AWD owner who said he gets 22 mpg average. At that point, just get a Subaru Impreza cause they are way faster and get better mileage.

Aside from all the mechanicals that drive these Vibes down the road ... go for the Orange at any cost :D When they brought back that color "ignition Orange" for the final 2010 year, I wanted one so bad but would have lost $2500 in 2009 sales incentives. Anyways good luck locating an Orange Vibe. Although somewhat rare, I think you'll find one 8-)

22!? Geeze. I'od be pissed if I got 22. The new full sized silverados get 23.

Anyway, ok. I guess I will just look for a FWD one and thinking about it more, maybe even a manual.
My plans are for larger tires and a slight lift if it is possible.

As it lies, these cars are pretty high when stock. Tires alone could give you what you want. Anyway, a manual will get you better economy if you know what you're doing. The 4-spd auto may be geared for economy, but if you aren't driving perfectly it will guzzle fuel like a full-size. Either way, I'm sure you'll be happy with one!

Hi there. Is your orange stick still available? I would also be interested - I'm in the GTA. Can you message me with details if it's still for sale? Thanks!

I just came across your post from last month. Not sure if your request is still active, but I may be selling my 2004 orange Vibe soon. I am the original owner, the car has always been dealer-serviced (except for oil changes done at the quick-lube shop), and it has only 90K miles. Auto trans, not AWD, but it does have the chrome exhaust tip and the Moon & Tunes package. I'm still stuck in the in-between phase of not wanting to sell it (I love it) but needing a bigger car (the kids are now 13, 11, and 9, so all three across the back seat is becoming an issue!).
