3m Headlight Restore Kit Tips/Results

Post by HatchJunki »

I had the opportunity to restore my headlights and I followed the directions to a tee to get the results shown in the picture. It worked out really well. I have a few tips for people doing their research.

-Pull the headlights off the car. Doing this will ensure proper restoration corner to corner
-Use your sense of touch! Every time you sand run your hand over the headlights surface and feel for any dragging or unevenness.
-Continually move the sanding pad, don't hold it in one place or you'll create heat which will cause the surface to distort instead of getting a clean sanded surface
-Be patient! The first took me an hour or so to get the technique right. Once I was able to complete the first one the second took less than half that time
-Use a lot of water when using the 3000 grit pad, the wetter the better. I utilized a dollar store spray bottle to keep mine nice and soaked

Note the instructions and a these tips and you'll have some nice clean lights.
