quote:I'm posting this to say, that I'm picking up my new Vibe tonight and to go along with this disscussion topic, the color is Monotone Fusion. So, forgive my rant, but I'm excited and just wanted to share that. If anyone is interested (as I'm sure you all might be), I'll try to get some pics taken for posting. Of course you're excited ... you just bought yourself one really nice looking car!Congratulations and Welcome to the family!

Ahh...subaru...I was thrown off because it kinda looked like the trademark "tear drop" lenses of a mercedes...but the side just didn't say mercedes to me...

I like the extensionn although I dont know if i should buy it or just wait til I can find a body kit for the Vibe, because it would be senseless to buy both. I like the orange color though. I was thinking of painting my Vibe Candy Apple red and Abyss flames on the front what do you hink of that? -=Paul=-

Unless you're thinking that's the same color blue as the WRX, which it isn't. The WRX's come in World Rally Blue (lighter), whereas my car is Blue Ridge Pearl - not available on the WRX.It's a base Vibe w/the optional 17" wheels.

quote:Looks good... in the middle of a corn field too? The tinted windows look sweet.Thanks. Well, I thought I'd find someplace with a bit of scenery, other than my driveway I would like to ask a question...we had to have this car brought in from Ohio since the dealer here didn't have what my wife wanted on the lot (mainly the one with the protection package), so we didn't actually drive this vehicle until the day she picked it up. As it turns out the alignment is off, have to turn the wheel a bit to the left in order to drive straight. The dealer says that GM doesn't align their cars until 3000 miles. We could have it aligned now (only 470 miles on it) but we would have to pay for it. Anyone ever hear of this practice? Or are they just feeding us a line? Forgive me if I sould be asking this in another forum.

Forgive me if I sould be asking this in another forum.Sounds like a load of s--- to me. Of course they align them as they build them; but that's not to say somebody on the line had a bad day and screwed up, or that the vehicle wasn't damaged in transit. If it's wrong it's wrong and it IS covered by your 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty. The first new car I bought was a 1986.5 Escort GT and it too was out of alignment from the factory. Problem being it was a "non-adjustable" angle. I was not about to replace tires every 15k miles because they had scewed up! They ended up putting the car on a frame machine and "straightened" it (a nice way of saying bent it back into correct placement) AND replaced the tires. But I had to fight for it. Trust me on this one MAKE THEM FIX IT NOW, and if they can't fix it make them replace it.If they are not disputing the alignment may be incorrect they should check and correct it under warranty. If they are disputing the alignment is incorrect consider telling them you want a third party to check/align it and you will pay for it if it is not out of spec, but that they will reimburse you if the alignment is indeed incorrect (be sure to get it in writing!).
Go to another dealer. That's some pretty impressive BS they got there.Even if it didn't come mis-aligned from the factory, it must've been screwed up in shipping, or on the delivery to your dealer. In any case, NYF, not your money that should be going to fix it.

Ahh looks like someone beat me to it, posting pics that is. The Pic of the tinted 'Sun Burst' monotone is just like mine, only I have the 16 in. alloys instead of the 17's.I gotta say though, I've only had the car for a few days now, and I love it. I'm already thinking of some mods and such. Also, I'd like to know if anyone has a factory or aftermarket alarm system, but I'll start a new topic for that.PS: Thanks to all for the warm welcome!!!
It's up to the service manager,he's jerkin your chain. What's it gonna do?self-align?(maybe that's a new feature for 2004?)all that I would see changing is your tires are gonna wear.Take it back.Talk to the service MANAGER(not a service writer)If he says no tell him you want the number for his district service manager so you can contact him.I'm betting you'll get an alignment. But I'll ask my boss tom. about the 3000 mile alignment policy.I work at a dealer and that ones new to me.Is there smoke coming out of anywhere?Sounds like someone was blowin it somewhere...update...my s/m says gm really doesn't like to do an alignment really soon.He said btw 5,000-7,500 range. He thought maybe some dealers were taking advantage of GM by turning in alignments on new cars that they werent doing...but who knows. He said if there is a problem, they should handle it
I wasn't present at the initial discussion with the service department, or I may had a few words to say then. I emailed their service department on Monday and told them that my wife picked up a Vibe the other week and that the alignment was off (I made no mention that she had already spoken with them), and if we could get it fixed under warranty. To my surprise they actually called on Tuesday. They said the don't recommend getting an alignment until after 3,000 miles to give the alignment time to "settle" (that's a new one to me). But they said they would take a look at it and if something is wrong (which, obviously, something is), they'll go ahead and align it now. We're taking it in tomorrow.

If anyone with a 2-tone 2003 is thinking about retro-fitting the new 2004 rockers the parts numbers are:Driver side rocker: 88973002 - dealer = $82.80 - GMPartsDirect.com = $48.84Passenger side rocker: 88973001 - dealer = $82.80 - GMPartsDirect.com = $48.84I haven't yet but I will in the spring. Just to protect the rear wheel arches from getting "discolored" or "sanblasted".
Thanks Nova, for the links. Strangely my car doesn't have the problem with the pitting of the cladding and I've been over some pretty rough stuff (Montana highways in winter). I'd like to do the same as you and purchase them before it becomes a problem. Of course with the cladding seals on mine so badly deteriorated I might do best to check with the dealer first.

Hate to bring this thread back from the grave, but as a relatively new Vibe owner this is all new to me.
Did anyone on this forum installed the new lower rocker panels on their 03? I really like the way it looks and am thinking of doing such a mod on my 03.

CP had the dealer do it under the TSB, way back in the day.
