Vibe Lock Alarm

Post by Vibebade »

Hello,
My brother recently gave me his old Vibe Pontiac 2003, as a present for my birthday. While it's a cool car whenever i lock or unlock it makes a loud and unnecessary beep. Is there anyway i can turn off this alarm, just for when i unlock or lock it. Thank you.

Edit: I just remembered the alarm is the one that is in most cars however with most cars they beep when you lock or unlock it a second time, like a confirmation. However with my pontiac it beeps on the first click (unlock/lock) and will turn on the actual car alarm if i lock it twice.

Welcome!

Whatever the car has on it was not factory so it's difficult to say how to change this behavior... There was only a visual notification of lock/unlock via turn signal lights for the 2003 Vibe, nothing audible.

Does your brother know if it had some sort of aftermarket alarm installed? There also was a modification that could be done to add a beep when locking/unlocking documented here, but unless it was a previous GenVibe member's car I doubt that is the case.

My brother is currently out of town, i will ask him when he gets back. However i doubt it is a modification because my brother isn't really into cars and the alarm is in a lot of cars, mostly on the second click.

Could you post a picture of the keyfob? The factory remote looks like this:

The keys are exactly like that, nothing different at all.

Hmm, is there a glass breakage sensor and security light over in the left side of the dash by the hatch release switch?

I forgot there was an optional Toyota security system, but I don't know if it beeped when locking/unlocking.
