Need to adjust the shift cable

Hi,
I am having some issues with my shifter. I just had the clutch replaced and asked that they check to see if my transmission was good and "everything looked ok", according to them, but when i shift into second the shifter will jump back out sometimes. Also, it doesn't feel fully engaged when i shift into 5th. So after a bit of googling, I read that I might need to adjust my cables. Found a vid that looks pretty simple

and locating the the cables was pretty easy. My problems are:
[*]I can't find any way to lock the shifter into the home position
[*]I can't find any way to lock the shift knob into the home position.

Does anyone know how to do this?

I don't think cable adjustment like the one in that video applies to your 06 vibe. The shifter in the vibe is much simpler. If you disconnect the cables at the tranny you'll see how floppy the shifter gets, there is no home position for the shifter and as far as i know theres no cable adjustment. I'd recommend cleaning the shift cable bushings especially at the tranny. That's something that should have been done when they replaced the clutch. Might not be the cause of the problem but its an easy thing to try.

Was the shifter misbehaviour something that was there before the clutch replacement or only since then?

I'll try to fully explain. For a while now, I've heard grinding in my clutch while driving. It seemed to shift and engage fine, but one day while driving in 5th gear, putting my foot on the throttle gave me no response from the engine. i was a bit confused so i slowed down a bit and tried dropping into 4th, which was fine. after 5 or ten minutes, the grinding in 4th got really loud and scary so i slowed down into 3rd 2nd and 1st until i got to the nearest exit.
When a buddy came to pick me up i figured i'd try riding it a bit since i put some oil in the engine while i pulled over. Not a block from where i started, the noise got bad so i slowed down and dropped her in 2nd. the grinding turned into a pop and felt like something dropped from under the car(i think my tranny is screwed, tbh). i was still able to drive it in 1st, get it parked and tow it home.

when i got the clutch replaced, it still had the grinding noise, but i drove it to the local Midas and topped all of the fluids including the transmission fluid, which had gotten low during the clutch replacement. I honestly don't think Midas was interested in doing anything more than getting as much money as they could out of my wallet. Of all of the things they suggested i get repaired, not once did they mention the tranny even when i asked them to check it(that would have been the big money maker anyway). So after leaving with much doubt but still hoping that nothing was wrong, i decided to drive a bit for the car to get used to the new clutch which sort of happened but not without introducing new problems.

at first it was 3rd gear making the shifter jump back and fourth like it wanted to go back to neutral. but eventually 2nd just started popping out at random.

Sorry to say that it sounds like no amount of shift cable work will help with that
