1.8L Turbo charger or Super charger available?

Post by SuperVibeMan »

Does anyone know if a turbo charger kit or Super charger kit is made for the 1.8L Vibe (or Matrix or Corolla)? It's a 2010 and I'm interested in this or any other mod that could wake this motor up? Any thought or feedback on this would be appreciated!

Thank you 8-)

Pretty sire turbokits.com now has a kit for the 1.8L 2zrfe in the 09+ vibe/corolla/matrix

Also check matrixowners.com and corolla9.com (when they're back up) for mod ideas as most on this board don't modify their cars in the same way as the import boards

There was someone that did turbocharging on a 2nd gen, but I can't remember the engine size...

If it was a blue matrix it was an auto 1.8 done by tk.com

The xb2 turbo kits fit the 2.4L matrix/vibe

There is another guy, on another forum who did this. I wouldn't recommend it. The thread is like 200 pages and the guy that did his car is like 30K deep into it.

If you know anything about these cars, you know what thread and website I'm talking about.

I believe this is the guy you're thinking of. He pieced together his own turbo setup with seemingly good results.

Maybe he's thinking of db outlaw on MO? He had lots of issues, too much power and busting his auto tranny a couple of times then going to a manual

Ya, he's 30k deep, but he's a special case.

A mild turbo setup wont break anything

Thanks, Envy! That's exactly the guy!

Um, I don't actually watch MO...I probably should, though.

Thanks for the feedback.......I will research with the leads provided. I'm a man of modest means so certainly will not be investing 30K in mods in a used car I paid $9,800 for!!!!! YIKES!!

yeah, that's the guy. Twintrix or whatever his name is, offered to fix it for minimal cost and db just kept dumping money into it.

But, at the same time, it's a good read and insight to what can go wrong.
