Did anybody else receive a SAFETY RECALL NOTICE notice from Pontiac back in Dec'12?
Well, I e-mailed them about it last week (4 months after receiving the initial letter) and received a telephone call back yesterday -- apparently the "new" GM doesn't know how (nor want) to talk to Toyota, because according to the young lady, it's "...not really a recall...yet." I gave her my VIN and asked if my 2009 was "in" the recall and she couldn't say yes or no. Sounds like GM is dragging their feet and throwing all the blame "...over the fence..." into Toyota's lap.
I also asked WHEN the local GM dealerships MIGHT know something about this recall, and she said they haven't been told anything yet. So, don't expect answers from them either!
Looks suspiciously like the "new" GM is acting like the "old" GM and avoiding their responsibilities to the customers.
Also, this RECALL apparently has two different numbers: #12071 and #12971...and she couldn't tell me which one was valid.
Anybody care to comment or add here?

Is that the flaming window switch recall? That's the only one I saw for last year when searching the NHTSA database.
It doesn't surprise me, GM was slow to respond to Toyota's recalls when the Pontiac division was still around. I can't imagine it getting better now that they're gone and the dealer body dissolved...

Let's not assume that GM is dragging their heals, and hating on us just to hate on us. That's not how companies do business. The logistics of the Toyota-GM relationship as adversaries and partners is complex, and until we know the true extent of how complex it really is getting everything to the customer, it's better to assume that the company doesn't hate you.

The trouble is that *I* don't care if GM and Toyota aren't speaking because MY warrantee has the GM name on it -- not Toyota -- thus their squabbles are totally in-material. I just like to know why GMC, Buick,and Chevy are always trying to get me to give up my Pontiac for a new car. I get the feeling that GM is trying to rid the world of Pontiacs, especially the 09-10 Vibes..... Such that to save on the warranties, get Toyota off it's back, and to make a sale. I don't think anymore that it's just that they need more used cars to re-sell. I wonder if they are secretly junking the returned "traded-in" Pontiacs and Vibes?

I'm not saying that, what I'm saying is that the logistics are complicated, and Toyota has to get the parts to GM, which costs money, is a lot of parts to go to a dealer network that Toyota isn't familiar with, and the dealers have to know how to properly do this and that... And if you're that concerned with something that hasn't happened out in the real world (if this is the window switch recall) then maybe you should take your car in for a loaner until they fix it. Since GM contracted Toyota to build and engineered the Vibe, I guess the most productive department in the GM organization are the lawyers. They are trying to get a settlement from Toyota.
It is a very easy repair. I went and saw how Toyota did the recall.
at the back the switch ,If they see any little brown colour mark at the circuit board vent, the switch is short circuited and order new part.
If no burn mark, inject toyota spec silicone from the syringe and inject to the switch pivots.
