All my vehicles, not just the Vibe. Funny you bring this up because I got 3 small dents and paint chips in my hood while at church on Sunday. It was from a kid throwing rocks. You bet the parents heard about it.

I park in a gated lot at work and always park by people I KNOW personally, so if something is wrong with my car, I know who to see about it! Besides work, I always park near the back of the lot where car parking traffic is less frequent.

This is where I sort of luck out. I have a handicapped placard on my car, so I alwaysget close to the entrance of where I am goingand the best part is the nice wide parkingspaces! No doors can reach me since the Vibeis little!

Where ever it is possible I park way out there. The only exception is down at college, the don't have enough parking so I park by all the decked out honda's, I kinda feel as if they may care a little more about a car. But you know, there is always that one person with the rusted up chevette who parkes right next to you. Boy I can't stand that!!!

Where I live we are packed into the parking lot like sardines... its hard not to park near anyone.... in fact its impossible. When we had our Cavalier somehow a line of tiny dings appear along the fender. I have no idea how those got there. So far no marks on Sputnik. *knock on wood*

Yep, far corner of the parking lot. Always, without exception. My wife is finally understanding this, in fact, she nearly always helps me find the best spots!

I feel you on that... theres nothing worst than having to drive around for an hour to find parking, except where i live i can just park anywhere i find a spot. My car might be gone by morning or sitting on center-blocks.

At work, I can get the first space (since I get in so early) and park WAY over away from the second space. The end of our parking rows have a big patch of grass with a tiny tree so lots of room to get out. When I go shopping I try to find an end space again or one next to the cart return. That way at least one side of my car is protected. Seems that every time I try to park way far out, I end up with other cars around me anyway and they are not always in great condition. Oh, I also walk around my car every time I go out to it after shopping or after work. "paranoid"

Haha, I do the same thing. When I get the chance to get the first space in the row, I park as close to the first line as I can (in our lot, you park on the line = ticket!).In any other case, if there are no cars around me (in a public lot), people seem to always either park way crooked or 2 inches from my car and 4 feet from the car on the other side. oh well.

I always park in a spot where no one else is at or near. My wife and kids do not complain anymore, they are sterting to like the walk now. I have been doing this since my first door ding twenty years ago.I had to go throuh the hatch of my Mustang SVO once becuuse of some a holes parking too close. one put a dent in my door. I left him a little something to remind him/her of the infraction.

At work, everyone in my dept purchased new vehicles at about the same time this summer so we all park in a pack at the back of our lot. My gf finally realized that we won't park close to cars again after this last weekend. I've done this with every vehicle, ever since my first truck when a little old lady opened her door into mine while I was sitting in the drivers seat. It was actually hard enough to set my alarm off.

Where I work, I think there are actually more employees than available employee parking spots. It's crap. We have 50 billion customer spots and not enough regular spots, then the stupid HR nazis who have nothing else to keep them busy all day will stand out in the parking lot in the morning to try to catch employees parking in the customer, car pool, and expectant mom spots. It's such crap. They are adding on to our building (like they do every year. so much for picking a plan and doing it right. inseatd we get construction every summer) anyway, they are making a bunch more office space that they have to call "warehouse" because they can't legally expand any more office space unless they expand the parking lot again...which there appear to be no plans of doing. Sometimes I wonder...

The parking lot where I work is big enough so I don't have to worry. But at the shopping mall it is a different story. No matter where I park I come out with a Hummer or a Mini van or something right next to me. 10,000 damn spaces in the friggin lot and the largest cars ever designed by man have to park 8 inches away from me. Usually try to find the nicest cars that old people or people with kids don't drive. Works sometimes but I have several dings on that strip of molding on the rear door. (props to Pontiac for the good placement) If I get a few more I will just have that strip replaced.

I park as far away as possible just about all the time. At school, so many people complain that they can't find parking. There is plenty of parking, they just don't want to walk much. I park in this huge lot which usually only fills about 1/2 - 2/3 full and I park at the far end. My walk is about 7-10 minutes which is not that bad. I usually don't find anyone parked next to me and I only have two door dings, one on each front door trim strip. Last spring I never saw any other Vibes at GMU. This semester, I have seen atleast 4 base Vibes, including a Fusion. Oh, and they don't park far away, they are in the crowd of cars.Later,

Thats good that you can find parking at school- You can not at my school- and if you park off campus far away you risk having your car broken into

HAHA you live in Detroit, that sucks when it comes to parking, I live in Mt.Clemons. I usually park in the back, or like someone else said, by some other street racer or expensive car...although I try to stay away from Jaguars and cadilacs, because alot of people with those dont care about them because they are company cars...I know this because my friend's mom is a stuck up barbie type person with a husband raking in around $500,000 a year, so she buys a Jag and doesnt take perfect care of it like she should and gues what kinda car my friiend has??? A 1989 BUICK CENTURY!!! his mom an dstep dad have a Jag, cadilac, 57 bell air, 73 stingray, 45 yacht, and a ford f-150 strictly for plowing the snow out of THEIR OWN DRIVE WAY! -=Paul=-

A little story about a carefully maintained, special car.Once upon a time (1982), I bought a Trans Am. It was very special as it was one of only 2000 built that year with factory installed Recaro buckets. With every option available, the window sticker was joined by a second page. It was black and, like every black car ever made, only looked good when washed and waxed. For ten years, whenever rain was forcast, or for three weeks after every snowfall melted, it stayed in the garage. It was never, ever, parked next to another car, and typically parked so far out in parking lots that nobody else would end up nearby. Then one day, when it was a little over ten years old and still looking extremely cherry, an idiot in an Audi 5000 ran a red light and T-boned the drivers' side of the Trans Am at 30 MPH. The moral of the story is that life is too short to waste time looking for the ultimate parking spot; you'll accumulate dings no matter how hard you try; and life has many mor productive things to perforate ulcers over.Having said all that, I must admit that Toyota seems to use some pretty brittle, ding-prone paint!

Well, for the extra distance that I park, I only have to walk like an additional 1-2 minutes. That is nothing and it is only good for you, so why not.

I guess we've all had that "junker" park next to us at one time or another. It seems to happen to me ALL the time! I have a few dings on the trim of my drivers door to prove it, and it really sticks out on a white car!?!. I remember seeing that last junker a few days later... minus one of his side mirrors (gee, I wonder how that happened?)

Yeah, my first door ding was from some crappy Neon this past summer. That sure did (removed) me off, going over a year without a door ding and this Neon had to put a chip into my moulding. His car was full of dents, sratches, and the edge of his door was chipped quite a bit. He obviously did not care for his or other's cars. I wanted to do something to his car, maybe drain the air out of his tires, but I decided not to.

i park wherever. there's no guarantee that gertrude and harold won't come back from bingo at the mall and get into their brand new cadillac and ding you. it could happen anywhere. i mean, come on, it's just a car. keep in mind, dirtbags will be more likely to key a car that is parked out by itself, sticking out like a sore thumb saying "hey look at me! i am a nice car, please deface me somehow!"

I'd rather walk the distance to the door and know someone isn't out there trying to get out of a narrow parking spot and banging up my wheels and then driving off. I park far from the door, away from shopping cart areas. My only pet peave to handicap parking is when you know the owner parked there is handicaped in the mind only.

Being 49 and having had a number of vehicles, I've found that in a year or so, I would stop the park away process. I've just accelorated that process to the day after I buy it. I'm in good shape but if I wanted to walk I'ld have left the Vibe at home. Fortunately this car has great protection clading. The Vibe GT is a great tool for my purposes (fun and haul) and somehow being that careful robs me of some of it's utility.

Well I saw today a reason to park far from the door. Here is my Vibe parked out there by its self and in the parking lot closer to the doors are a couple of people standing by this car. The front left corner is smashed in. Near it are two other cars, obviously hit by this one cause it looked like they got pushed together at the back.3 car accident... yup and there was my car way out there by itself... right where it should be.

I used to until it was intentionally hit twice. Damage total = $680. Some people just can't stand it if you have something nicer than they do.

I just started taking the train into the city (Philadelphia) instead of driving in. After less than one month, my car has two door dings...real good ones...chipped off paint and everything. I'm going to start parking far away and in spots where only one person can park next to me...try to cut down on the odds of some jerk hitting me again.

I don't mind the walk (prefer to ride my bike anyway!) but my favourite joke is to pick a nice, far spot in the parking lot to see the look on my wife's face!

I usually park next to mercedes or bmw's with the hopes that they love their car enough not to let their door hit my car. Has worked well so far. If I find another Vibe in the parking lot with a spot next to it, I will always park next to it.

I look for an "end" space if I can find one. I also look to park on the right of someone versus the left od someone. You always know there will be a driver to the other cars, but may not always be a passenger to the other cars. If there is no one getting out of that side, then there is very little chance of the vibe being dinged. When I am in a big lot, I even take up two spaces for added security. The only two times I have ever not parked in this manner with the vibe, I got dings and scratches. Never EVER again will I let that happen.

I usually get to the train early, so the one spot next to me is usually empty. Wouldn't you know it, they backed in to their spot, so I was still on the drivers side! Geez-mon!
