misfire when cold

Post by cmpltvertigo »

Hello group, new owner of 03 Vibe here and it is in great shape besides a sputtering/misfire situation when the vehicle is cold. Once the vehicle warms up it seems to run fine. It does have a CEL and if came back with a multiple cylinder misfire code. Does this sound familiar to anyone here?

Thanks, the fact that cold air affect idle may have something to do with an intake leak. I will have to have the CEL code pulled again to see if it detects a lean mixture, code p0171.

thanks for the link; I replaced the intake gasket today and reset the battery. so far so good, the CEL went away and no erratic idle when cold. It was only a short test drive though since I still don't have insurance on the vehicle.

Glad it helped.

While you're under the hood (since it's a popular topic), you may want to clean the MAF sensor.
