Wow, it’s great to find GenVibe! What an awesome resource.
I recently bought a used, stock, 2010 Vibe 2.4L in red with approx. 64k miles from a private party. Just got it a few days ago. Things seems fine so far. I have been reading through tons of threads and have a few questions.
Since I do not have service records, and do not know what was performed, besides a recent oil change, I am wondering what maintenance members would suggest. Transmission and brake fluid? Also wondering how to get the best MPG with the 2.4L.
I do notice an occasional exhaust fumes smell when I run the car, but this seem to be getting better. Also the oil reading is approx. 1 inch above the max line on the dipstick, BUT according to forums, this seems normal and nothing to worry about.
Engine air filter looks clean, but the cabin air filter was a real mess and I replaced it. I seriously think a mouse was trapped in there. When I replaced it I noticed a hole in the fabric just above the cabin air filter door (see attached photo). Perhaps the mouse chewed it?
I am wondering what this hole will effect? My guess is that when the fresh air vent is on, it will be pulling in more cabin air than it would if the hole wasn't there.
Any idea how I can fix it? I can’t seem to find a replacement part. Maybe some duct tape?
What about the MAF sensor? Is it worth cleaning as a preventive measure? I checked the forums but couldn’t find a how-to posting.
Lastly, as I am not much of a DIYer (but willing to tinker), where do you get your car serviced? I was thinking of taking it to a GMC or Toyota dealer for the next oil change to take advantage of their “free-inspectionâ€. (Can you take it to a Toyota dealer?)
Thanks everyone!
