New to me 2004 AWD Vibe

Post by bowtieman427 »

Hello all, first post new to the forum. I am from SE MN and just got a 2004 AWD Vibe with 76150 miles basic modle it has AC, AM.FM with CD and that is about it. Wish it had cruise and remote start I may add them on if not to $$$.

I have been a long time 97 Geo Prizm (Corolla) driver. The Geo has virtually trouble free 206,000 miles and had it for 12 years now and thought it time to get something new. Geo is now forsale now. I hunted around for a replacement for a few months and really like the Vibe, Matrix line. I hope it lasts like my Geo did. I really like the Vibe a lot. Great design and concept with Toyota reliabilty. Can not ask for anything more. Daughter calls it the mini Suburban.
thanks Jim

Vibe basically has same bones as your trusty Prizm, only more room! Should run many trouble free miles. Welcome to the Vibe site and post some pictures of your mini Suburban soon as you can!

Welcome to GV! On the Matrix 4WD it has ALL the goodies. Hey save your self $$$$ and have the rear diff seals and fluid checked out along with the transfer. A $200 repair now (seals) can save you $2000 down the road. Goodluck!

PS yes they are gutless 0-60 in 12+ seconds....ouch!

Hi Salsa, thanks for the advice. I have been looking all over for any information and parts on the seals you mention. Where did you get the seals ? I was on an AC Delco site looking for parts no luck. Got a repair book nothing on AWD. Its like there are none out there. The seals go bad in both the rear end and tranfer case ? I talked to a GM dealer this past weekend and they sold about 20-30 AWD vibes a year when they were selling them and he said they have never had any issue at all with the AWD Vibes. You never know he was a saleman part owner of the dealer. I would think here in MN the AWD would be a little more popular. I will get pics soon the wheather here is still bad with snow but should warm up end of week.

here is my thread on the AWD rear seal replacement. I have the Toyota part numbers, getting them from Toyota is much cheaper than GM.
