Rotor/pad recommendation

Post by cythraul »

Hi,

I've been reading on brakes the last few months in hopes of finding the best rotors/pads for my 2007 FWD Vibe due this spring.

I plan on towing a few times a year (especially during summer) a tent-trailer (with electric brakes) or my small trailer. Otherwise it's my wife daily driver.

So I'm unsure if I should get regular rotors and ceramic pads or go a step over with slotted rotors and performance pads.

In term of brand, Napa looks like a good choice. Some people seems to like the Toyota brakes. I have no knowledge of what brand is better..

Thanks!

Hmmm, regarding towing a trailer, I'm not sure what you'll need. Regarding brands, Centric and Powerslot are known to be good brands for rotors. Powerslot owns Centric (Centric unslotted, Powerslot is...you guessed it, slotted)

My opinion about brake rotors and pads is that even medium grade parts are good enough for normal usage, pulling small trailers included. High-end slotted / ventilated rotors are necessary in high performance situations such as racing. Any brake rotor will easily absorb and transfer the heat necessary for a single panic stop or two.
I am impressed with the quality of the parts I get from Napa! Their prices are very reasonable and many of their parts are of a much higher quality than the competition.
