Pins for skid plates

Post by cythraul »

Hi,

I drove my 2007 Vibe like I use to drive my old 4WD 98 MPV in plowed snow on the road side.

Consequently, the passenger side skid plate that completes as inner fender and engine undercover/skid plate have lost their "pins" holding them to the body and together. I've tie-wrapped what I could temporarily but unless I drill some holes, I'll need replacement pins.

Does someone know the part numbers and the right place to order them without getting ripped off at the Pontiac dealer? I know Toyota dealers is usually the right place for Vibe parts as they are cheaper but I fear that these pins are Pontiac only.

Also, while inspecting the damage I noticed that the passenger side fog light is cracked but still works. should I replace it before humidity gets in or does someone have a trick to repair just the glass?

Many thanks!

see ehoff121's post in viewtopic.php?f=11&t=40202" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for the pins/clips

Don't know of a repair cracked fog light glass technique, both of mine are cracked. never use them anyway.

If you've got some to compare to I find http://www.clipsandfasteners.com to be a good source for part numbers. You can usually find what you need from their pictures and measurements and either buy them there or search ebay for the part numbers. These are what is used on most of the underbody shield panels on my 2009: http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Nylon_ ... 25-100.htm

Indeed. And, it's probably old news for all of you but I dicovered http://www.gmpartsdepartment.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to help find the exact term instead of just saying "you know that pin that hold that plastic thing". :)

I noticed that I'll also needed what now know as a fender flare retainer: :)

http://www.gmpartsdepartment.com/parts/ ... 20retainer" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And that part looks like very much like this one on your site:

I knew that I could count on you guys to help! Thanks a bunch! :)

The Toyota push retainers look a lot better designed than the old ribbed GM ones. I may get me a pack of those to replace the GM ones that inevitably fall out...

Do you mean these as the Toyota ones?

Similar to that, I was looking at the under cover ones. http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Lexus_ ... a20955.htm for engine and http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Toyota ... a21294.htm for radiator.
