An odd thing that happened to me.

This is something that I never had happen before with my 2009 Vibe.

As I left the car ( during the daytime) I heard a warning signal beeping. I saw the seatbelt symbol light on and didn't know anything else that I did to make it sound.
The car was turned off and in park as well.

Well when I came back to the car as it got dark outside, (coming from the store) I saw my red Tail reds on.
I opened the door and the signal sound came on again. I just started the car, went home. Again at home the light stayed on as well as the front turn signal lights.
The car was again off. Well I figured out that I turn on a light switch at the tip of turn signal arm.
Since I never had to fool around with light switches with the auto light setup, I nevered learn about this feature before.
In conclusion, I now learned how to turn on the lights with the motor off.
Nearly five years with this car and I'm still learning. LOL

Mmmm... Parking Lights! I also get "rusty" having the automatic lights. You'll know when I get a different car; I'll be the guy driving at night without headlights on.

If you haven't been using the light switch... What about when it is overcast and raining, though not dark enough to kick on the automatic lights? Sure, you have a couple of dim DRL's up front that help people see you from that side a little which is better than nothing, but remember you have zero lighting from the rear. Don't forget to turn those lights on so people from behind you can see that a car is there.

Good Point...I never thought about that being that I just know the front lights are always on. I never think about putting the red lights on. And, I never bother to learn what the switches do when I'm driving the car. In the old days with a real Pull on light switch, I always knew that the Red tail lights turn on FIRST then the headlight on the next pull.
There should be an display symbol that shows me the red tail light are on or recommend that it be turned on.
Auto lights only turn all lights on at sunset. In my case, the red lights were on in bright daylight and I didn't notice them on and didn't know what the warning signal was for.

One last point.... Had I turned on the redtail/parking lights on with the manual switch, then I would of forgot to turn them off after I turned the motor off.
These lights just stay ON with the key removed.

That's what the little reminder bell is for!
In the interest of full disclosure, I also never considered that the tail lights don't work with the daytime running lights (DRL's). Ooopsie
