Question about cruise control

So I bought an 06 vibe used about a year ago, and today when I got in my car I don't know what happened but the piece of plastic that is the stick for the cruise control snapped off and it is dangling by the wire. I googled to see how to replace that part and found this thread viewtopic.php?t=15832" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is it really that easy to do? I am in no way a mechanic but I can do basic things (change oil change brake shoes) is this something that is doable by someone who is a novice when it comes to working with cars? don't bother. pay a certified mechanic to replace it for you. i don't want to be held responsible for the steering wheel air bag exploding in your face. possible injury and/or death may occur.
