Factory wheel finish

Post by Triton »

Does anyone know what they use for a clear coat on the 16" factory wheels? Is it a lacquer or an enamel? I need to put something over a gouge in on of my wheels and I want to help keep the integrity of the clear coat. Thanks!

I assume you referring to aluminum or alloy wheels, and not the covers on the steelies...
YES!I still visit GenVibe periodically. I have not forgotten about my "original" family over here!

Yes I am. Alloy wheels, not hub caps or steelies.

I don't know for sure but I would assume enamel. I don't believe they use lacquer on anything anymore.

Thanks Scott. My dad and I were thinking the same thing. I just want to get some clear enamel, maybe from the hobby store for models or something and put it on the exposed aluminum. That should protect it enough.
