Hi all, new here, hoping you might have some ideas! I have a 2007 Vibe, automatic with 111K miles on it. Got it about 107K so haven't had it long, several months. Tonight I drove home after work and stopped it, started it back up about 20 minutes later and when I went to put it in drive, it didn't move at all. Kind of "rose up" a little, similar to what it might do in my mind if my emergency brake had been on and I tried to drive it, or similar to like a huge rock or something else, holding it back. Shifted it into reverse and the same thing.
I do not use my emergency brake but I checked it anyway. Wasn't on. Tried shifting it around, turning the car off and back on. At one time, I put it down in 1st and pressed hard on the gas and it did move forward about a foot but I didn't like the feeling so I stopped trying that.
Just had my oil changed last week but checked all the fluids and they were fine. Anyway, after about ten minutes, upon one of my restarts and trying again, everything was fine. I felt a sense that the shifter wasn't acting right. I remember it being a little odd, describing that exactly, I can't, but pressing in the button on the top of the shifter and then moving it down, I do remember one time as I moved it out of park, there was a distinct "release of tension" is maybe best how to describe it. Anyone have any clues? No other lights were on, just the normal ones.
And this has nothing to do with this problem, but figured I might throw this in. Since it's been cold for a couple weeks here in TN, about two weeks ago, when in reverse, for the first couple of times, only in reverse and only the length of my short driveway, I hear this loud noise underneath, like under the passenger backseat. This went on for about a week and a half on the colder morning. Then this week it was a little colder and it not only was heard during reverse but about the first ten minutes of my 30 minute commute. It seems to be triggered by the cold...under the backseat on the passenger side...what on earth could be there?
Thanks for any comments of suggestions and just want to say I love my Vibe and I got mine just because my daughter has a 2003 Vibe and I loved her's! Got mine for a really good price. I know it was wrecked and I need to do some better hooking on some of the plastic front and side pieces and just praying it will be as good as I've heard. Have a few other issues, might be posting about soon.
