2007 Instruments/Dash Light Issues

Post by somichjosh »

Hello, new member here, just purchased a frosty two-tone 2007 Vibe on Monday! (I'll get pictures up soon, promise)

When I test drove the car it was in the day-time so I didn't notice this until purchasing it and driving it off the lot at night - that all of the lights for the shifter, heat/air dials and buttons, and the dimmer dial do not work. The lights behind the speedometer and all of that work perfectly fine (although they won't dim with the dial). I've read a little on here and it sounds like it could be a tail light relay or possibly the fuses?

It has had an aftermarket radio installed from the previous owner (Pioneer AVH-P3400BH) - so I'm thinking maybe they disconnected a cable or wired something wrong? I don't think it's a light bulb issue because it would be too coincidental that they all are out and the dimmer not functioning.

Anyone have any suggestions or info to put me in the right direction? Thanks!

Actually just realized the tail lights are out too - so I'm thinking it must be the relay. I've found some other posts about it, so I'll dig under the glovebox tomorrow and try that out.

Okay so I replaced the fuse and it worked for a few days and then it just blew again last night. I'm thinking it has to be something with the wiring and the Pioneer unit. Either something is loose - or it was installed improperly by the previous owner. I noticed the dimmer dial does not dim the lights on the the radio, so maybe that is wired wrong and causing a short?

Anyone have similar fuse issues with aftermarket radios?
