Every so often, when trying to start my 2010 Vibe, the ignition switch gets " stuck " in a forward starting position. The starter just keeps spinning & it doesn't start. I can remove my hand from the key & it still spins over. I have to manually turn the key to off & try again. Of course, it wouldn't do it when the dealer was looking at it. Anyone had this problem ? Would it be covered by warranty even if the car is out of its 3 yr. warranty ?
Does the key get stuck in the start position or does the car continue to try to start (but doesent) and keeps turning over with the key in the "on" position?
The car is equiped with an auto start feature in which the starter will continue to spin even after you turn the key from "start" to the "on" position. If the car is doing this, and not starting, it's not a problem with the ignition switch itself.
OOPS !
When I try to start it & turn the key to start & let go of it, it goes back to " ON " position & motor keeps spinning over without starting. I must manually turn the switch to off & retry, which usually works. The car is just out of its 3 year warranty . Whatever the problem is, would it be covered under any warranty at all ??
In a quiet area, have someone turn the key to the "on" position, not "start", while you listen under the car for the fuel pump. That would be the first thing I'd check.
