Cannot hear the fuel injectors prime when turned to "on"

Post by leighangela »

In my old car ('99 Olds Cutlass), I would put the key in the ON position for a few seconds before starting it and I would hear the fuel injectors. I thought I heard that once in my new ('07) Vibe, but now that I'm listening for it I don't hear a thing. The car starts just fine though. Could this be an issue? I've only had the car for 3 days.

In my '91 Ranger the pump is loud enough it is easy to hear. In my '04 Vibe, the pump is quite and there are too many buzzers and beepers also. I just tried it, and even with the radio off and the door shut (eliminates one buzzer) you cannot hear it. There is a beeper that sounds that I cannot eliminate (hmmm, seat belt?) but I don't think it could be heard anyhow.

I really hadn't noticed that I could not hear it. I usually start the car with the door open and the belt not yet on. Starting the car first gives the engine a chance to run a few seconds and settle down before it gets put in gear.
