Tien S Tech Springs

Post by Brandort3 »

I know that there has already been a post about this, but i was wanting to know a few more specifics if anyone has any ideas! How hard were they to put on? What kind of struts go well with them? and lastly, how much were they with everything? Thanks for the help! :D

I can only help you with the shock part. I had mine installed by a mechanic. I think almost any shock will do good with them. I've heard Tokico shocks are good with a lowered vehicle, also. I plan on getting them soon, since my shocks/struts have 205K miles on them and most of that has been with it lowered.

Installation is a bit of a pain, but can be lots of fun. The rear are super easy. Four bolts. You don't even technically need to remove the rear wheels. The only real trouble part we had when lowering my Vibe was the sway bar links. One is now aftermarket, while the other we jerry-rigged to tighten and loosen. It could have taken us half a day, but we were searching for that sway link, which took some time. Schedule a day for you and a friend/parent/relative to do it, and get snacks. Spring compressors are easy to rent (but I recently bought one from Brian Bluecrush, just so I could have one in the future). Up front there's the three bolts up top, two mounting it to the knuckle, one for the brake line, and the sway bar linkage. This would be a good time, if you wanted, to replace the sway bar bushings with energy ones from MonkeyWrench Racing.

Installation was a breeze with medium mechanical knowledge, did have to borrow my neighbors impact wrench though for the strut mount bolts on the front. Paid 146 for them from RS Enterprises on Ebay and they look amazing. Only thing to watch out for is about 2-3 months after install they do settle down about another quarter to half inch, had to actually go buy a racing jack to get low enough under the frame lol. All in all great product with easy install. Good luck and have before and after pics if you want em.

I just got done putting a set of 03-08 s-techs on my 09 gt. not too bad. I also roasted a sway bar link so I've got a new set on the way. I also didn't remove a bracket holding a speed sensor wiring harness that plugs into the hub. I stretched it and broke it. Now all my abs, e-brake and traction control lights are on. That was a $69, dealer only part.... So take your time and take all precautions. It looks so sweet. I highly recommend the s-techs. I put them on my stock struts and shocks cause they don't make aftermarket ones for the 09. Good luck if that's the route you go.

the hardest part lowering a 10 year old car is rusted/seized parts (ie sway bar endlink)
