Rear glass door on 2006-2010 Vibes

Post by gralm »

People who own 2006-2010 Vibes please advise me if your car has rear glass hatch that can be open independently from rear (fifth) door.

I have 2003 model and love this feature, but the latest Matrix dropped it along with folding forward front passenger seat.

BTW, I know that period I am asking about includes two different models.

Actually you intended to list the years 2009-10 and NOT 2006. NEGATIVE on the feature that was once available on the 2003-08 Vibes! I didn't own a first gen Vibe and therefore don't miss this feature. Hope this helps :)

The folding front passenger seat is an available option on 2009-2010 Vibes. Both our 2009 Vibe GTs have it.

Thanks for reply!

Actually I intended to list what I listed. I have 2003 Vibe and my sister - 2005. I wanted to check for *all* following years.

Those two feature are very useful and absent in all new cars I plan to consider when I will be on a market next year. It includes Matrix, Hyundai Elantra GT, Mazda 3, and Kia Soul. I may end up with low miles original Vibe, if I can find one.

The seperate glass door in the hatch is standard on all 1st generation 2003-2008 Vibes. The 2nd generation 2009-2010 does not even offer it.

In my 2003 I used that separate opening twice when hauling my mower to the shop for service. Now I have a B&D Battery powered mower that requires no service so I do not miss that feature with my 2009. For my smaller lawn this 36 Volt self propelled mower is great - cost $450 vs. $350 for a comparable gasoline model. Now I don't smell of gasoline after mowing, don't need to store gasoline in my garage, don' need to go to the gas station to fill that container, etc. Best move I ever made.

The folding front passenger seat is on all no base 2009- Matrixes from what I can see ( at least in Canada) and as I recall was on all non 1.8 l 2009-2010 Vibes, the separated opening rear glass is not available on any 2009 + models of the Vibe or Matrix. If you really want both features any pre 2009 of both cars will have them.
