2003 Vibe heater not very warm?

Post by glhboy »

My 03 base Vibe heater is not really warm at all. Noticed today in the morning when it was chilly. The car temp guage is normal and the blower is working great, but the air is not warm.

Any ideas? Thermostat?

Thermostat or low coolant. I've seen it one of our other cars where there was enough coolant for the engine (at least under low speed conditions) but apparently not enough to put hot water into the heater coils.

Drove on a 80 mile trip today and the heat seemed to be fine. Not sure what could cause it to not be warm at an idle?

Coolant levels were fine.

Low coolant WILL cause your air to blow cold, even if engine temps are fine, but if you are topped off you should be fine. Just remember, heat is always weaker when sitting still in this car. It surprised me when I first bought the Vibe, but I grew use to it.

I close my dash vents to help keep it warmer in the car. Just a tiny bit of cold air seems to seep through the dash vents year round. Closing them keeps it to a minimum.
