Broken Door Latch Cable
Hi. I have an '04 Vibe and the drivers door latch cable broke. I went to the local dealer for a replacement and he wanted $60. I cant get myself to lay out $60. for something as simple as a cable, so I am looking for alternatives, cable repair/replacement ideas, any kind of help. For now, I have to lower the window and open the door from the outside handle to get out of the car. I thought of getting a bicycle cable and threading it through the old cable shield, then affixing a new end, but cannot find any kits, or even YouTube videos on how to do this! Thanks for any ideas you might have!Jim

It has been 2 years and you still have not fixed this? O my... remind me not to drive in your car!!

A simple fix would be to go to the wreckers and pull one out of another car. Bring yours with you and compare as I'm sure that Toyota used this in more then one model.
