exterior lighting any good or bad reviews?

Post by 07cdnvibe »

This was my first of many mods to my 06 vibe, new to the sight and just figuring out how to post everything, I would like to know what you guys think. I have installed LED's behind the door handles and under the doors, both come on when you open the door or when you unlock the doors, the handles lighting up that way is very handy when sitting in a dark parking lot.

Looks nice ;) I'll assume these are wired into the dome light circuit and are NOT on continuous? I plan on doing a similar mod BUT to the outdoor mirrors to where "puddle lamps" are installed and shine a bright white LED down onto the ground so you can see what you're stepping in as you enter the car. Again NICE MOD. Keep up the great work :D

thank you, yes they are on the dome light circuit, i like the ones in the mirror but doing mine in red there is not enough light to the ground from that far up, but i am sure the white lights will look real good, how are you going to do it? just a thin LED or are you going to flush mount something into the bottom?

YES ... that is exactly what I have in mind. A separate assembly (probably only 1/2" - 3/4" thick) which will attach to the underside of our mirrors. It will not only contain "puddle lamps" but also turn & brake indicators, amber park lights front & side. A lot of LED's in a small assembly. Winter project for sure. I'll keep ALL posted on this site :)

i purchased, some 3 light LED's and some 30 light LED's on ebay, the small ones when on the back of the door handles with 3M tape and ran the wires inside the door, on the bottom of the door i installed the larger strips the same way, connected the 2 sets of lights together and ran them out of the doors, and connected them to the dome light half way up the windshield pillar on the drivers side. I found this was easier than trying to figure out what wires in the kick panel. Hardest part was trying to figure out the negative system and how it worked to power the lights when the doors open or when i used the remote to unlock them. Having them wired up this way i can also unlock the rear glass at night and have them on driving around as the glass does not bounce around and stays tight but not tight enough that they dont sense the window closed.
