2007 Sliding Visors

Post by Vibramatic »

Well I found them, sliding visors for the Vibe....you have to order with your VIN and if it doesn't match they won't take them back...So I have them and they don't quite fit....GM (it must have been Toyota) saw fit to change the tooling and change the rod that goes into the fitting...it is approx. 1/2 in shorter...the roof on the '09/'10s must have been raised slightly...and the 2 screws on the '07 mounting bracket that slides? They are now push in fittings...we tried to push the '07 screw holders into the slots, but with the difference in the main rod length you still can't make them work....I'm not done trying and damn the idiots who removed sliding visors from the Vibe....

Vibramatic, did you ever get the sliding visors to work? My wite's new Optima has the sliding visors, it seems such a simple solution I can't see why more cars don't have them. Alho, I suppose if all the test drivers are under 5' 5" or so, they may not notice the problem (hmmm, how tall are most Japanese?)

Maybe we should start a list of autos we know of that have sliding visors so we could take some measurements and go hit up the local salvage yards to see if we could find something.

My 2003 PT Cruiser had sliding visors, and I loved them. When I got the Vibe in June, I went looking for a solution. not having them anymore was not an option for me. This is what I ended up with:

They are hard plastic. They make them specifically for different models of car, and they will contact you for the model before sending them out. Each one comes with an elastic loop that you put over your visor. With my 2009, the Visormate fits in the existing strap on the visor, too, so that it is held in two places when in closed position. I have used it to block the sun on the side when it gets out of range of the regular visor. I have also wiggled it in place behind the rear view mirror to block the sun. I find that they work pretty well. Actually, they would work better if the plastic were thinner and bent a bit easier. Then I could get it behind the mirror more easily. But they do work and they support disabled people who make them.
