2004 Matrix stereo/cassette/cd in a 2004 Vibe?

Post by keiri25 »

I recently purchased a 2004 vibe and the stereo for one does not sound great-static which could be the speakers, however the buttons are all worn off and I'd like to use my Ipod. I've seen a lot of options on the forums from aux adapters to fm transmitters that for one reason or another do not seem to suit my model year. I've seen a few posts that suggest I could use a matrix stereo (from ebay) and my old cassette adapter to at least manage the Ipod issue. I'm not a big sound person, but the static is annoying and I'd like to listen to my ipod. Any thoughts on this from anyone, has anyone else done this?

I don't know what might be causing the static.

To gain an AUX input by using a cassette adapter, I have installed Matrix CD/cassette head units in my 03 Vibe, my brother's 05 Vibe, and my son's 03 trix, and it is a direct swap, no wiring or mechanical differences. I use mine hours daily.

Two pieces of info
- The CD/cassette head units have stuck/broken tape detection. If your tape adapter is a really simplistic kind, you may have to use the tip provided by ColonelPanic in viewtopic.php?f=18&t=29140&p=329183&hil ... on#p329183" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
- After some use, the radio may display a message CLEAN PLAYR. It will come on after some number of hours of tape use. Just press and hold the tape eject button until it beeps and says it's cleaned.
