I am sure this question has been asked ten billion times but here goes. I'm looking for the right answer. In doing some research on replacing the stock m&t system I found various answers in regards to the the bypass factory amp question...
1. Some people say they don't have to and it sounds fine (counter-intuitive to me... you shouldn't amp something that is already amplified from the head unit = noise, right?)
2. Some people say that if you bypass the stock amp (splice or harness) you will blow your new head unit because the stock speakers carry a 2 ohm load. (this is concerning to me because I know that my new Kenwood specs a 4-8 ohm output. A heavier load can tax any amp... have there been people on here that have successfully done it this way? Were there sound issues or other issues with this?)
3. Do I have to replace the stock speakers (which don't sound too bad at the moment)?
I am getting the new head unit in the mail in the next few days as well as the dash kit, wiring harness and antenna adapter. My first thought was to splice the input output wires on the amp and run it... Can the front speakers/tweeters be ran parallel and still have the tweets crossed over or does the stock amp do the frequency work as well?
Please help y'all!
