2010 New Vibe owner issues

Post by Taz8547 »

Just bought a certified GM 2010 pontiac Vibe. all is well except. Onstar cannot activate on my vibe they keep saying they can't find my car. The last onstar rep i spoke with says that the pontiac vibe did not come with onstar and that the dealer put in a bestbuy unit. The onstar in my vehicle is the original as it came from the factory. the vehicle is now a week old. Had it in to the dealer on thursday and picked it up on friday. dealer still could not activate it. dealer says there troubleshhoting team is working the issue and should contact me in 2 days? Anybody else having this issue? My Vibe is the base unit with the 1.8l engine sunroof.

We had no issues with our 3 month free trials of OnStar when we first purchased our 2009 Vibe GTs. Although, when I called to set up my free trial, the person I spoke to congratulated me on the purchase of my new Saturn Vibe . I decided right then and there, I would not be subscribing to OnStar.

On the other hand, welcome to GenVibe! Post some pictures of your new Vibe when you get a chance ;)!

I had no trouble except I kept getting cut off when trying to activate(perhaps due to where my car was parked?) but after that all was good.

None of the 09-10 have bestbuy units(called Onstar FMV) are are installed at the factory as standard equipment. Perhaps the unit is damaged so that they could not tell what car you were calling about and it is a GM issue? The unit is under the seat and the mirror is the control unit. (It is the same concept as some of those 1980-1990's GM and Ford radios where the thing with the display and the CD/tape player were the control head and the actual radio was ether in the trunk(Ford) or buried in the dash(GM)

When I went to activate one of the first things they asked me was if i was calling about my 2009 Pontiac Vibe.

Now to be really honest with you, some of the things Onstar is known for (like remote unlocking of the doors) is not supported in the Vibe because of its hybrid Toyo/GM parentage

Please keep us informed

Welcome to GenVibe. I thought I read here on another topic that any Vibes that were factory produced for "fleet owners" (Avis, National, etc) intentionally did NOT receive Onstar. Someone here can correct me if I'm wrong. With that said, was this Vibe part of a fleet package in it's first life? If not, then something somewhere is disconnected, removed, or damaged. Curious to know what you find. Inform all of us when you finally get this working. Thanks and again ....................... Welcome :D

My car was a fleet order and it DOES have OnStar. I had it activated the first year and a half of ownership but then canceled.

 I don't have onstar but I can tell you the problem! I have seen this on several onstar equipped vehicles! The control (rear view mirror) has a connection problem. Tell your dealer to check the connection for the mirror at the mirror or at the control unit. The connections from 2009-2011 had problems with vibration (no pun intended) where they plug in. ;)
