I've been toying with the idea for a while now, of painting my muffler and stock exhaust tip matte black with high-temperature paint. What do you guys think of this, and has it been done before? Would it look good? I think it would flow nicely with my wheels and the rest of the black accents on my car.
Thanks for the input. I'll try to get around to it in the near future, and I may grind the rust off of my trailer hitch and paint that matte black as well.
I've thought it would look cool, but i have too many other things my car needs first. I was thinking leave the tip alone as well, but black for the rest would be sweet!
I would think it would look good if you had other flat black accents.
I'd go to Home Depot and buy some straight sewer pipe fitting that comes in black ABS - probably something like a 4" to 3" reducer fitting or something like that. Something that you can just slide over the existing tip - just to give you an idea what it looks like. Take some pics. Then return the pipe fitting and get your money back! Because it would have an "industrial" or rat rod feel to it, I am thinking it might look best in 3.5 to 4" diameter.
If your existing tip is stainless steel, I might be hestitant to paint it though.
