Head Unit install Help

Post by falcon9du5w0 »

I've owned my vibe for a little over year now its a 2007 and i replaced the headunit when i first got it with a cheap one that died on me this morning but i was wondering if any body has tried putting the stock brackets on a after market double din head unit or if it would have issues fitting because of different face plate sizes or whatnot. Attached are pics of piece just in case i'm not describing it well enough.

welcome to genvibe

fitting the OEM brackets to an aftermarket radio might be a problem, I wouldn't expect the new head unit to have appropriately placed mounting holes for the OEM brackets. Seems like most of the people here who go aftermarket HU buy a mounting kit.

There are several available, and not that expensive. Not a recommendation, provided for example only, one such adapter is http://www.google.com/products/catalog? ... 7850617937" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

We tried fitting the brackets on my double-din unit (Kenwood DPX-308U) and it didn't work. There are bumps and holes that just don't line up, and I would also highly recommend a mounting kit. Saves time and ensures great fitment and finish.
