Hello all

Post by Destineal »

Hello all. I'm Dohni from Georgia and I drive a 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege.
I don't have a Pontiac Vibe, although I test drove a 2003 GT in 05. The only reason I didn't get it was because the dealer wanted to charge me a high interest rate. I didn't know too much about credit unions back then, so I missed out. Hopefully I can still get one in the future(not necessarily a GT) as a 2nd vehicle.

Welcome to the forum! One of my good friends drives a Protege 5, it's a pretty solid car but it's desperately lacking a turbo ;)

True. How would you compare it to a vibe?

Feels like it has more torque, but the chirping of the tires when he shifts into second might also be attributed to driving style. I really love the styling on the front end, too, with the big fog lights. He has yellow film on his and it looks pretty great. Also like the availability of Mazdaspeed upgrades, but I'd say the Vibe is roomier inside. Interior wise, both of them are pretty nice. I like the stance of the P5 over the Vibe though, looks lower. Both are very capable automobiles, and are comparable in some aspects. Another perk of the Vibe is the variable valve timing (Though I guess a turbo pretty much trumps that. ) Protege also seems to have more aftermarket support, but I guess that just helps the Vibe crowd get even more creative with our mods.

Welcome! Those Mazdas are great cars too. We looked at the Mazda 3, mostly the 5 door, before getting my son's Vibe, but all the good ones were still too expensive. We might end up with a 4 door one for my daughter though, since she wants a car with a trunk.

Good luck in your search for a Vibe!
