A Love Nest!!

Post by Persephone »

Soooo~. . . I got my Vibe so that I can flip down the back seats and take a nap when I'm on a trip because I go adventuring quite a lot. I'd also kind of like to use it for more romantic things when I visit my boyfriend. His mom is very Christian, so we can't do a thing at their house. x_x Definitely somewhat puts a damper on the relationship. Anyway, I'd like some cool mod ideas to make the back end into a lovely, romantic lovenest for snuggling in.

I like your style of thinking The possibilities are endless. To assure that you & the Vibe are safely in a secure private area, you may want to invest some type of "motion sensor" device and also incorporate infrared technology (humans or animals would trigger this off). Of course this would have to be externally mounted somewhere for it to work properly. Could be a very complicated mod BUT one that is possible

Curtains, eh? Good plan!!! I just don't know how I'd make them look classy and not like some hobo tossed them in (that hobo being me).I like your style of thinking, too, Tpollauf. X3 That's a fantaaastic idea and I'd sleep much easier then. Have you seen any guides to doing such a thing?

Tons of stuff that the Element Owners Club has already thought of that works well:Take styrafoam and maek templates of the windows, wrap fabric on them so they fit right onto each window. (use velcro or whatever you wat to hold them.) Don't forget to make a barrier to block the front window's view of the back seat. IT should fit on top of or behind the front seats. That way if someone looks in the windshield, it just looks like someone parked teh car there and it's empty. Make sure your barriers and window covers all are covered with black fabric so it jsut looks like a dark view. Then most importantly, you must put a chuck under one of the wheels so the car can;t movwe back and forth much. Also ensure your boyfriend is 5'5" or shorter, or it won't really work out. IN highschool, I had a 1999 GMC Jimmy that I used as a love nest, and a good dark blanket between the two pillars behind the front seats stuffed inbetween the headliner and pillars worked real well.Happy "modding"

Curtains would make it look like a creeper car. Don't leave them in all the time. Otherwise, parents will keep their children away from your car...

An air mattress would probably make things a bit "tight" up to the roof line I'd think. Maybe a roll-up foam mattress, a couple of thick cushy blankets, and some dark window tint. Any interior lighting would be to your disadvantage though with tint. Lighting probably isn't really necessary anyway;)

I do want tinting to protect my poor interior and myself from the sun's harmful rays!! lol But I want it to be dark enough that it's worth my while and the cops in Iowa are nasty about it. -.- So I'm going to try to get a prescription somehow. . .

I don't think too much romance is going to happen in a car. You dot want to me Messing around with candles or scented lamps or massage oils I the back of your car lol. There is just not enough room. However I'll tell you the best way is to go buy a twin air mattress from Walmart. This is what my girlfriend and I use on long road trips or if we don't feel like paying for a hotel when we are on the road. The mattress will fit perfectly as long as you push your front seats all the way forward if you plan on keeping your car for awhile then I would say get some dark tint. I have this but we also pop the hatch then fold a blanket under the glass for more privacy. Then all you have to worry about is the windshield. We normally bring a coat hanger and hang a dark sheet from it then over the front head rests. Using this technique my gf and I have never had a bad sleep in the vibe no matter where we are I do also have an alarm on the car but no proximity sensor which would be a nice add.

I don't know about the first-gen Vibes, but the 2009+ have "chicken bars" on each sides in the front. By "chicken bars", I mean those handles that are attached to the roof where you can hold on to...So, if you have one of those on each side, you can certainly put a blanket hanging from those from left to right and have the blanket falling behind the front seats so you don't have to worry about the front side windows.BTW, the best car I had for turning into a love-nest mod was the Pontiac TranSport... lot of room and perfect interior for hanging blankets! The side windows had those "pop-out" windows where I could slide pillows enveloppes and then close the windows on them and they would hold by themselves... For the rear window, I would open the hatch, put a blanket and close the hatch on the blanket. For the front window, well there was a plastic beam crossing the roof just behind the front seats and I could tuck in another blanket... that was awesome! Oh, and of course, I had that sliding door to easily enter and exit the car!So if you want to just cover the windows fast, you can put on a blanket of about the same size and close the window on it, same goes for the hatch door. Put on a blanket to cover the window and close the hatch on it.I also like Serj22's idea of having foam pads covered in dark fabric. I found cheap memory foam at Wal-Mart one day, so you could use those, cut them to the shape of the window, cover them with the dark fabric. If they don't hold by themselves tucked into the window frame, you could use sticky velcro... For the ambiance lighting, I would have suggested to get some cheap mood lights that you can plug into the electric lighter. In Canada, they have tons of those at Canadian Tire, under the brand name "TypeS". The only thing, the lighter plug if turned OFF when the engine is not running. So... at this point, I would suggest those battery lights for camping, or those that you can stick to hard surfaces, like in lightless closets.I hope this can give some good advices!

Wow, a tent!! That's so cool!!And Alex, nooooo!!! NOOOOOO!!! My son: is all the child I will ever need and more. lol I have too many adventures to go on and am far too romantic to want to create a flesh creature. And if I change my mind, honestly, I think adoption is better to me. So many kids age out of the system and never get adopted because people are selfish and just have to make a new one. They spend millions of dollars to do this when they could have just saved someone's life. (Just my opinion. I don't really understand.)I guess I do probably look crazy because of what I want to do with the back of my Vibe and because I wasn't telling much on personal information, but I will so you stop thinking mean things about me or at least understand a little better. XDMy boyfriend and I met 6 years ago in an online game. We live 1000 miles apart and only see each other a few times in a year. And we never got to meet until November of last year. So every second we get to spend actually together is important. And that would be why we're cuddlefiends and why this not cuddling or touching or. . . ahem. . . will just not work. We occasionally need a sanctuary. lol

I like the way you think about adoption. Actually, I have found a position in the trunk of my Vibe where the hatch is closed, seats are up, yet I'm comfortable, and I'm near 6 foot tall. Window tint, definitely, something such as a shirt on a hangar to cover the rear and passenger window, a sun shade for the windshield, hang a shirt off the sun visor for the drivers window, and whatever for the 3rd windows. Foam mattress pad and a cotton mattress pad are really comfortable. I slept on pretty much just that on top of a rock-hard mattress for a year.

I have layed in the back of my Vibe at the Drive-In a couple times. It's very comfortable. I would definitely get a mattress pad or something similar to lay on though because that plastic in the cargo area and on the rear seats is hard and extremely uncomfortable.

Alex: That TranSport sounds like the PERFECT lovenest. Haha!! DJKeev: That would be a really hilarious bumper sticker. XDKitt: It sounds like you aren't as hard to make comfortable as some people. You must be good at sleeping! And J: It REEEALLY is sooo uncomfortable. And cold. And slippery. Probably partially because I polish it once a week with armor all. . . lol

We occasionally need a sanctuary. lolGotcha!Just don't get me wrong, I wasn't "thinking mean things" about you!!I was just "trying" to be funny by linking the signature to your situation! But I litterally failed it seems I wasn't directly implying you were making kids, it was a figurative way to say that you were "practicing" the act of making kids! For the adoption part, I clearly respect your lifestyle choices! It takes all kinds to make a world! You are part of it and I also am! You would look for a kid before making one, I would not. We're two kinds! But it's really nice the way you think about adoption, those poor kids didn't chose to come to the world and to be parentless. I DO NOT say I wouldn't adopt, but I really like my kid to be from me and my GF's genes. I don't know if this makes me selfish, I'll take the hit if so.Right now, my GF's 6½ months pregnant and we're really happy and excited. We can't wait for it to come to the world! We just arrived from my cousin's and his cute little 4 months baby girl... now we just can't wait anymore! But the problem with adoption isn't just with people ignoring the fact there are orphan children... there's especially a problem with the persons who first created those children. Many kids given to adoption are the result of youth mistakes or even mature mistakes... and these mistakes could have been avoided...! Instead of giving birth to a kid and rejecting him after... why not simply abort the process while it's time........ You *might* (?) be against human abortion, but what is more inhuman between rejecting your kid after birth or aborting him while he's still an embryo (not even yet considered an human...) ???Many people are total irresponsible human beings. So I wouldn't blame too much the people who doesn't want to adopt in the first place. The people to blame in the first place are the people who created those flesh creatures! These are the real selfish... They probably couldn't handle the heart-breaking choice to have an abortion so instead, they kept him without having to make the hard decision... with plans to give it away... but there are way too many children given for adoption, and probably not enough families to take/rescue them. THIS is selfish because that person didn't want to have to make the hard decision in the first place! -OR- didn't wanted to have protected (removed). If you want it to happen bare skin, be prepared to deal with the results... this is totally immature. If you're mature enough to have (removed), you should be wise enough to know that sexual intercourses are originally meant to create life...! Way too many babies are given for adoption because the parents accidently made them but didn't wanted them.Death of parents or bad parents are other stories that leads to adoption. These are understandable and these children should be the only ones we find for adoption... we shouldn't find any kids for adoption simply because they were an accident and are unwanted.Anyways! This isn't a debate, but I wanted to share my opinions too!Take and enjoy every seconds spent with your lover, these moments go so fast! And be selfish for you two when you're with him. You both deserve to have each other all to yourselves when you're together! And I hope you can figure out a great way to have a cozy love nest!

The Aztek was able to carry within its interior the standard 4 feet (1.2 m) by 8 feet (2.4 m) sheet of plywood, a common and useful task most of its SUV competitors were unable to perform. (note: Aztek carries 4x8 plywood sheets with the tailgate lowered, but the gate doesn't lie completely flat and the large glass liftgate is heavy.[7]) The Aztek was also available with two rear cargo area options, a pull-out cargo tray that held up to 400 pounds (180 kg) that rolled on built-in wheels when removed from the vehicle, or a versatile cargo net system that held up to 200 pounds (91 kg) and could be configured a claimed 22 different ways. In support of the Aztek's intended role as an accoutrement for a youthful, active lifestyle it offered a number of novel options/accessories, such as a center console that doubled as a removable cooler and a tent/inflatable mattress package that, along with a built-in air compressor, allowed the Aztek to double as a camper. Extending this image was a seat-back mounted backpack, and a number of specialty racks for bicycles, canoes, snowboards and other such objects. An optional 10 speaker Pioneer stereo system provided a set of controls located within the rear quarters of the vehicle for tail-gate parties as well as an unusual 2-piece tailgate with built-in cupholders and contoured seating area for added comfort. The Aztek was available in a Limited Edition model in 2004. It featured standard leather trimmed seats, a higher grade stereo system, a rear spoiler, aluminum interior trim, standard heads up display, and an adjustable 6 way driver's seat. The model only lasted for two months.
